Just checking out this church until I saw all of this

I went to psychologists and a psychiatrist as well, to learn to deal better with stress, pain from injuries, divorce, death of loved ones. Was givven that test a number of times. The real MMPI. Asks the same q1uestions repeatedly in different form. Made me crazy. JK

Wow! I wrote that comment so long ago, I had forgotten about it! Your response is very well taken and I agree, but my point was that legitimate, normed psychological tests do not ask ambiguous questions. If a test item can be misinterpreted or interpreted in more than one way, if it suggests multiple scenarios, that item would be eliminated in the test construction phase. Test items have to be both valid and reliable. They have to test what you think you’re testing and do it consistently. The item in question was not valid. Too many unstated assumptions had to be made. A better question would have stated there was no chance of survival if that was the case. Anyway, the Oxford is just another scam. That question is like asking “Have you stopped beating your wife.”

Funny, I see that question much differently. To me it asks if you have the fortitude to commit the act of killing if in your mind it was humane. It is a question I had to answer in real life when I was considering becoming a vet tech. I found a squirrel outside my house with a broken back, which looked like it had been mauled by a cat. I knew there was no chance of survival, so I decided if I had the fortitude to kill this animal humanely, I could pursue my chosen career. So, I wrapped it in a towel and smashed its head with a brick. Squirrel died immediately, and I became a vet tech. Many people since then have said they could never euthanize an animal, and I consider it a strength of character that I can face a task others say they cannot. It does occur to me there is a dark side to this question. This is the same fortitude a solider must have to kill. The ability to take a life is perhaps a strength and a weakness. And perhaps indicates how willing you might be to do horrible things to people if you can be convinced it is justified, which is definitely what they want in a scientologist.
