You’re absolutely right, spf. There aren’t any studies of infants being given anti-depressant medication for depression, because it has never been done. Bob is wrong.

As for pregnant women, it is standard medical protocol for mothers who are taking anti-depressant medication to not breastfeed their babies and to use formula. it is far healthier for mother and baby to have a strong, loving and stress free bond when the mother is mentally healthy, than to nurse her child while mentally stressed and suffering from untreated mental illness.

Bob was also incorrect when he said, “it occurs, but it is not widespread” and “Instances of babies being prescribed antidepressants is declining”, is also false. Again, babies have never been prescribed antidepressant medication, ever. This is Co$ propaganda.

Bob’s comment “…I am sure the drug companies would be happy to sell more drugs to more potential patients who cannot speak for themselves” is without merit. In addition, saying that he “is sure” does not give this statement any validity whatsoever, but instead displays an attempt to convince us that he knows something which he, in truth, does not.

Bob’s comment that he “was just trying to create dialogue about Mace-Kingsley” when he said “There’s a parallel between Mace-Kingsley and psychiatry” is hogwash. It appears to be an attempt to derail the already existing dialogue about the disturbing practice of auditing infants by the Cult of $cientology. There is no parallel between Mace-Kingsley and psychiatry. The field of psychiatry is medically and scientifically based. Mace-Kingsley and $cientology are neither medically based nor are they scientifically based. When challenged to provide evidence of his claims that babies were being prescribed antidepressants for depression, he could not do so. The two links he posted did not support his claim.

In essence, if one is making a strong claim that they are purporting to be true, they need to be prepared to be able to back it up with solid evidence to prove it. Unfortunately, in this case, Bob was repeating propaganda created by the Co$ and the CCHR, and their goal in promoting these lies is to deceive people and to create negative feelings and opinions about the field of psychiatry and pharmaceutical companies. Hopefully Bob and anyone else who is presented with these claims will question the validity of information provided by both the Co$ and the CCHR and will research their claims more thoroughly through valid and trustworthy sources.
