I have to agree, in fact compassion was in fact harmful to the being who was be subjected to the horror of it. Sympathy was much lower toned because you were going into agreement with the pc. You know the old man already got all that shit figured out as Budda and didn't need to repeat that again. I was really glad he had swooped in from wherever that non-insane, peaceful place he incarnated from. I always thought I was the only one who didn't buy all the bullshit, sounds like that wasn't the case, I was in, but I'm gonna say 80 percent. But I primarily thought it was all screwed up because we dealing with people running things, it's not like they were all OT or something. JEEEESH! Carry on...

To climb in the organization, you have to leave compassion behind. You sacrifice that part of yourself to "the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics." As you rise, a new kind of "compassion" might take over: "compassion" redefined as inducing others to subordinate themselves to the aims of the Scientology hierarchy, getting their ethics in and stats up. Auditors and low-level publics are permitted to retain some real compassion because it's good for business: it boosts their production and baits the trap for others.

Many Scientologists' own native compassion fights back, and eventually wins, against this heavy suppression - at which time they bust out from the Chruch. The re-emergence of gloriously free, compassionate homo sapiens from the Scientology mindtrap is a thing of great beauty.

Around the distant fringes of Scientology, surely there are Scientologists who have not yet had their compassion ethicked out of them. If you were lucky enough to spend your Scientology career among such people, take a win! You got off easy.

"The tech" teaches you early on to be "a good auditor," which is someone who can listen without judgement.
The ultimate goal is nefarious, but I think a lot of compassionate people were drawn into that. And I sure there were plenty of narcissists who rejected self help because they thought they didn't need it.

Not the individual Scientologists. In fact their natural compassion was probably what led so many of them out. The SYSTEM of Scientology.
