Funny you should mention the bogus adherent figures—I just got an e-mail this morning from Pubs, saying I was part of an elite group of 98,000 Scientologists (probably the sum total of names on the Church’s mailing list) and touting the upcoming LRH B-Day event.

I think the way they’re characterizing their mailing list as an elite group is designed to maintain the illusion of expansion for those in the Church.

This is just speculation, you’d know more than me about this.

The illusion is more complex than I think people recognize.

The smaller the “elite group” figure is in contrast with the total membership claimed, the more important each individual Scientologist perceives himself to be. This isn’t self-determined importance, it’s pan-determined importance emanating from COB. Pan-determined importance is, of course, an arbitrary—it can throw out computations, it’s enforced ARC, and it actually pushes people down the Tone Scale, facilitating increasingly widespread abuse and black PR.

In point 3 of KSW, knowing the tech is correct, to do otherwise pulls one in along the dynamics toward self. It assigns value along the dynamics inverse to what they should be. COB has clearly operated on the basis that LRH materials produced by anybody but him are incorrect. Knowingness of incorrection has destroyed The Church of Scientology as a third dynamic. When importance on the first dynamic exceeds that on the second, divorce and general family destruction ensue with inexorable promptitude. Similarly, It lays waste to the dynamics like a nuclear bomb exploding backwards and its EP is a MEST automaton.

This is black-Scientology in its truest sense. COB is a *textbook* 1.1—Per LRH, David Miscavige must be destroyed.

You all are trying to inflate my ego, eh? I kid. Thank you. I did gain some quite important and helpful things from LRH.

The self-determinism of someone inside the Church is totally eclipsed by the pan-determinism of COB. I can’t operate under that sort of situation. It’s one thing to have aligned determinism with another, it’s another thing entirely to be subject to someone else’s pan-determinism. The two look similar, and I think that’s the illusion that functions as a theta-trap of sorts, pulling someone into the organization and into mental and spiritual bondage.

My dealings with the Church actually began as aligned self-determinism and it was in the attempted transition process that I “woke up” (I don’t know that I was ever asleep) to just what the Church was trying to do.

My views on LRH may change, who can know the future? But like I say, whatever I think of LRH I hold separate from the veracity or the workability of what I’ve incorporated into my life from Scn.

I thought it was more than a fair shake by Whoopi and Joy. It seemed those two old gals know exactly everything there is to know about the cult and asked the questions that would have the most impact on their viewing audience. I don’t usually watch The View and not in their demographics.

I hadn’t thought of that but I think Tetloj is right: between them, the two books cover a very wide demographic and have good chances of being read beyond the US. Indeed I think Jenna’s book at least has a French translation, with others to follow.

And therein lies their dilemma – look like freaky shrews or hide in the corner and make it all go away with a defiant denying email to be read on air. The level of accusation being piled on is so serious that the latter tactic is not only not cutting it anymore but it’s making them look like they seriously have stuff to hide.

Any ‘wog’ company, (in the same crisis position) would at his stage be in 101 crisis damage control – starting with FACING their accusers – be it apostate or wog journalist, giving themselves a proper chance to tell their ‘side of the story’, hard to ‘spin’ from a fr#kn email statement.
The thing with CoS is they’re waaaay too vulnerable here. They resisted, resisted Anderson Cooper till day 3? 4? into his investigative broadcast in 2010, then decided they HAD to counter in person (fairly disasterous outcome IMO). These guys are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. They’re fucked.
