Buddhism is also inwardly directed. What makes Buddhism different than many other religions is it inspires others to look inward and achieve enlightenment in themselves to become a buddha. Unlike other religions that encourage you to follow an enlightened one (Jesus, Mohamed, ect)

In reply to Imago. There is a complete lack of humor inside the church. I wish it were not so. I am extremely careful of what I say to church members. What is interesting is Hubbard was always joking and being sarcastic. Just listen to any tape recording.

In reply to Imago. Yes LRH did. Not sure where though. In the early days there was a lot more fun. Laughter. Exploration of new ideas etc. Now unfortunately almost every Scientologist I know has disconnected from some one or other who has left the church. Fear of communicating to undesirables and fear of being upset by reading something uncensored by the church are the norm. That does tend to squelch laughter. Being able to laugh at oneself is an admirable quality. I am afraid if you are in the SO you do not have that luxury. If you are the head of the SO a herd of elephants could get that tiny tyrant to elicit a laugh at his own expense. If the king does not laugh neither do you.

The Master finally arrived in my part of the world – and, like BTN2, I went alone. I’ve been a lurker at VV, The Rodeo, and The Underground since the mighty divorce and am so grateful for the knowledge and wit in this wonderful community. I know I would have missed so much without you all. Please may I ask one question though, that I haven’t seen raised before? When LRH… sorry, I mean Lancaster… announced the release of his latest book, he said something like – ‘It’s all about laughter’! Given that laughter and humor is most likely very scarce in Co$, did LRH write anything or speak about laughter?

Tony, very nice interview – great perspectives and your compassion for the victims was apparent. I was thinking throughout it that you were very gracious to the other journalists working Scn, and I was very pleased when Alison Hope Weiner acknowledged the same. Keep up the good work!
