I agree that the Co$ letter sounds like a joint production of the poison dwarf and his mulleted pal Danny Sherman.

Karin Pouw never even tried to be funny — you always had the sense that she couldn’t wait to transcribe the hysterical ramblings of David Miscavige and then go for a smoke –but Danny Sherman did put in a lame attempt at humor: “Mr. Sappell might as well add that he believes we “shot J.R.” and cause global warming.” Yeah, that’s the way to be humorous and topical: use a catchphrase from 1980 that wasn’t even funny then.

Deckard, I thought the same … and I expressed that opinion over & over. Then I received a Kindle from my hub for C’mas ‘011. Took me a while – really did. But, I am sold! My library system is very cool and has purchased a zillion e-books. So, I just sit at home, never have to go to the building during a cold Minn winter, and have unlimited reading. And, new books you want – pretty inexpensive and delivered the day they come out. Boom.

Sadly, they apparently censored my comment, which I put in yesterday during California working hours, but which has not appeared. I pointed out, in a very reasonable tone, that their actions speak louder than their words. If Marty Rathbun were the hapless low-level nitwit that they claimed, then a) it doesn’t speak very well of their management to allow him to continue in a position of trust in the cult for decades, and b) that he hardly seems to be worth spending millions on shadowing and intimidating as they have done with the Squirrel Busters and other campaigns.

The bottom half of the letter is all their usual boilerplate about “unprecedented expansion,” and clearly seems to be more about canonizing David Miscavige than about selling people on the religion. But the top half has a lot of far more catchy wording than usual. It sounds rather like the work of Dan Sherman, who writes all those bloviating speeches for David Miscavige. I am sure that Miscavige and Sherman had a busy couple days writing this response.

These women are incredible, and their support for each other makes me weep. What an extremely moving show that was.
