I’m an Ex-Scientologist. I was involved for 16 years, and on staff for 8.5 of those years.

Any org that delivers services for “Clear” and above are staffed by SO members. All management orgs are staffed by the SO. So all staff members, no matter what org or mission they work in, are managed by SO members. Hubbard set it up so that all of Scientology was controlled by the Sea Org. Then he made himself Commodore so that every Sea Org member was totally controlled by him.

Joining the Sea Org is presented as if it is the most ethical thing you can do as a Scientologist. All kinds of people join the SO. There was a time when I would have joined, too, but I had taken LSD when I was a teenager and this disqualifies a person for the Sea Org.

SO members live in their own abusive little worlds, away from “wogs” who might corrupt them, or get them thinking. The Sea Org was Hubbard’s crowning achievement in applying the tools of classical brainwashing, and to keep that brainwashing working, you can’t let the real cultural values intrude on the cult. So there are strict rules of isolation and separation from the real world.

I doubt if any active Sea Org member in a management org, especially Int Base – were it is and always has been the most crazy – would ever be allowed to speak with you. And he certainly would not answer your questions.

Amazing. Yes I have read about “too gruesomes” in Marc Headley’s book. That was the time he had to dig up dried human poo from a cess pool with his hands wasn’t it? That was his turning point I seem to remember, that and the humiliation of the poor overweight woman in the swimming pool. Made me feel sick that.

You say that regular Scientologists learn aggressiveness from the SOs. Would ex Scientologists agree with you or is that an observation you’ve made? (I’m assuming here that you are a critic and not an ex as such) Is there a lot of contact between regular Scn’s and SO’s? Would you say that most SO’s are just Scn’s who couldnt afford the courses?

And do you think there are SO executives (are there many left?!) sitting somewhere reading this in their offices at Gold? I would love to have an honest chat with one of them! I always get the impression that the higher up you go (in command chains not necessarily the bridge!) the further AWAY you get from the very thing that drew that person into Scientology in the first place.
