Chuck, dear man,
There is a greater difference between CoS and a genuine church than between “Yellow Polkadot Bikini” and Mozart’s Requiem. If you are too young to have heard the former, count yourself very lucky; if you’ve never heard the latter, go to the nearest library and check it out. You will hear the voice of humanity’s heart and soul. Scientology has neither. Doesn’t even know what they are.

“Unbelievably decent” is how people are supposed to behave. If they’re not behaving with decency, compassion, all that is best in humankind, they’re not being truly religious.

It horrifies me that ordinary decent conduct would seem amazing in comparison to CoS. But then, it’s only a ‘religion’ for tax purposes.
