Scientology caves: Fred Haseney avoids court hearing, will take camera to Big Blue tomorrow

Fred_Haseney

[Fred Haseney, with ‘Call Me’ sign, at June 24 ‘Battlefield Earth’ event]

“Fred Haseney has entered into a settlement agreement, and he will be continuing his First Amendment activity around Big Blue,” says attorney Graham Berry, explaining why there will not be a court hearing today over a Scientology lawyer’s request for a restraining order against Haseney that accused him of stalking a Scientology employee.

For months, Haseney has been documenting Scientology activities with his camera, particularly Scientology’s attempts to “body route” new people into its L.A. facilities. A former Scientologist himself, Haseney told us that he had decided to leave the church after reading pages from this website. And his activities were not popular with the church. In May, Scientology vice president Janet Weiland visited the transitional home where Haseney lived (he’s been out of a permanent job since 2009), and tried to get the Baptist pastor who runs it to convince Haseney to stop his photography sessions. The pastor refused.

On June 24, Scientology lawyer Kendrick Moxon filed for a temporary restraining order against Haseney on behalf of Beatriz Castro Macias, claiming that Haseney had been following her to her apartment with his camera. Haseney denied that, and said he didn’t know who Castro was. A hearing was scheduled for July 15, today.

But earlier this week, Moxon indicated that the church was willing to settle the matter. One of our sources tells us that happened once Fred’s side let Moxon know they planned to call Karen de la Carriere and other witnesses at the hearing to talk about Scientology’s own history of stalking and photography.

Graham Berry would only say that a settlement had been reached, and that the terms were confidential. He was hired by Haseney after Fred raised money through the Internet.

“I was more than happy to assist,” Berry says.

But all is not good news for Haseney. At the same time that he was learning his legal problems were going away, he was getting kicked out of the transitional home, Hope Again, where he had lived for the past four years. We asked him why that had happened, and he said that right around the time that Weiland made her visit to the home to talk to the pastor, a new resident also showed up who took an instant dislike to Haseney.

Over several weeks, Haseney says, that developed in odd ways until he found himself being screamed at in the house in what he perceived as a clearly targeted campaign. Under the house rules at Hope Again, when a conflict develops between two tenants, both of them are asked to leave. So, on Tuesday afternoon, Haseney found himself having to trash a large portion of his possessions so he could move out. He’s now staying in a cheap motel and paying for it from savings he managed to eke out from temporary jobs he’s had over the last four years.

Still, he plans on being at Scientology’s Big Blue complex on L. Ron Hubbard Way tomorrow afternoon with his camera to cover the final Maiden Voyage event, and he is hoping that several people can join him.

“I really want to thank everyone who donated for the legal fund. I don’t have much access time to a computer now that I’ve left Hope Again, but I did get a chance to send an email to Paulette Cooper, thanking her for her donation. I’m hoping to get time to thank everyone else,” he said.

    Yes.

“plot holes are so large, ol’ Hubs himself could have fallen into them.” LOL

    • Robert Eckert

cmi was “literally glued to the book”? Acetone (nail polish remover) might help with that, but Scientology won’t.

    • Peter

But first, they need to figure some way to get a broadcast license! There’s nothing like the stupidity of spending many millions of dollars for pretty pictures if you don’t have that license. (edited for typo)

      • Peter

On the other hand, it’s no worse than spending hundreds of millions on building doomed to remain empty! ROFL

As for Fred, he had a secret weapon in hand…named Karen. (G)

I love those Illiterate reviews. Well done, Scientology! Study Tech makes people think you must be “gifted”, according to Scientology troll “elle”. Not gifted with an over abundance of brains!

    • Missionary Kid

Moxon without pants is a very scary situation.

      • NOLAGirl (Stephanie)

        The horror….

    • Fred G. Haseney

      Thank you, NOLAGirl (Stephanie.

  • PickAnotherID

“One of our sources tells us that happened once Fred’s side let Moxon know they planned to call Karen de la Carriere and other witnesses at the hearing to talk about Scientology’s own history of stalking and photography.”

And DM can’t have that getting into a permanent court record, where the IRS can take official notice of it, now can he?

    • Sarcasmo

I would never suggest volunteering someone to be a martyr or that they involve themselves in legal proceedings at their own personal expense in order to serve the greater good, but imagine if somebody who was willing to make such a sacrifice decided not to settle and let this go to court where witnesses such as Karen de la Carriere and others would testify and have entered into the record their knowledge of $cientology’s history of stalking and photography.

I’m not a legal mind so have no idea as to whether it would actually make a difference or not. Seems to me, anyone in the legal system who has come across anything about $cientology would already be aware of their tactics.

    • Cheap & Nothing Wasted

I think the real fear that Moxon & his boss have is that the courts would not only put an end to any restrictions on Haseney, but might go much farther & end the closing off of publicly owned LA streets for the $cilon activities.
So they decided to avoid any possibility by caving in.

      • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, Cheap & Nothing Wasted.

    • Linda Clement

Good point to remember … Scientology’s legal threats are empty ones. Scientology does not want to have a case go to court. When the church itself is sued they litigate like crazy with pretrial motions to avoid actually going to court,, and that can certainly cause emotional and financial strain. But they ain’t gonna let nobody testify. It’s all about the entheta — oops, I mean Torture Tech. They just want to hurt you enough to make you go away.

      Edited for clarity.

  • MrsLurksALot

Great update, thank you Tony. So happy for Fred, he won the staring contest….CoS blinked first. I can’t wait for his report from Big Blue. I’m sure Odo has missed him. On the other hand, terrible news about his housing issue. Hopefully LA Bunkeroos can put their heads together….surely someone knows someone with a room or garage apt?

Keep up the good fight, Fred. You are invaluable, our Johnny on the spot.

Ed due to lack of coffee.

    • SciWatcher

“So happy for Fred, he won the staring contest….CoS blinked first.”
      In other words, CoS: Flunk!

  • SciWatcher

    Go Fred!

It seems as if Hope Again could have made an exception in his case, given that it was a setup by scientologists, who were clearly harassing him.

    • (((dagobarbz)))

Someone could run the name against the truthaboutscientology database…it sounds fishy…errr…clammy.

    • chukicita

Here is info about who is in charge of Hope Again and contact information.

      http://www.hopeagain.org/boardmembers/

EDIT: I can’t do it myself today, but maybe someone could call and just ask them for advice about options for Fred at this point.

      • Missionary Kid

If you contact them, please be very respectful and caring. They have helped Fred for 4 years, and not just in housing.

I’m from a similar background to Baptist, and even though I left those beliefs for new ones years ago, I can appreciate the charity that they have offered Fred.

Contrast that with $cientology, which has no charity.

        • chukicita

I am glad they have helped Fred and although I understand their need for rules I hope they can see how it’s possible that the situation that occurred was manufactured and not Fred’s fault. I’m sure it wasn’t comfortable for them to have to turn him out.

That’s why I thought they’d be good people to ask for direction as to possibilities for Fred now.

It also speaks to a larger need for organized transitional help for folks who are in situations such as being a Scientologist and suddenly not being one.

      • ExCult.Jan

Unless Fred asks us for specific help (like for legal costs), we should keep our individual and collective noses out of Fred’s personal business. Although intentions are certainly good, harm to Fred could inadvertently result from not knowing the background or nuances of his situation. And that would truly suck. Not to mention it’s patronizing. Fred and Graham and others who know him IRL are certainly working on the fallout.

        • chukicita

You’re right, that would suck, although I disagree it’s patronizing to offer help when the problem is being shared here. I guess I just wanted Fred to know he didn’t have to deal with it alone.

  • aquaclara

Big, big hugs to Fred, and with special thanks to Fred and to Karen. You all make a great team. This was a win with a heart.
Now, how to work on Fred’s housing ….with all the great folks that read here, perhaps there is someone with a contact, an idea or a spare room while Fred gets back on his feet. I’m sorry he’s had to fight the housing demons; this latest sounds suspiciously like a bit of a Scientology set up, does it not?
Stay strong, Fred. There has to be reason for hope in all of this.

    • Good call right there – someone out there in LA… Read up!!!

    • Rasha

I wouldn’t say it sounds suspiciously like a bit of a Scientology setup – I would say it reads exactly as Scientology’s playbook. It is their ham-fisted M.O. to a tee. Fred has struck a blow to the dying hydra at a cost, but he’s got support. I do look forward to him getting settled and back on his feet.

      • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Yes, it sounded to me like CoS sent someone to live there with the purpose of creating conflict with Fred. I am really sorry about that. But SO proud of Fred, and so thankful to Karen!

        • Rasha

It is a shame that they have to waste their time and resources fighting this organization of thugs, but it is inspiring that they can and do.

  • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

    Hey Fred!

I’ve been thinking of applying to the Knickerbocker Hotel myself, seriously, I’m 64, but when I’m in my 70s, I can’t think of anything that’d get Scientology’s goat better than daily walking from the Knickerbocker to the Library there on Ivar and to the Farmer’s Market, like a normal low income retired elderly person, which I have no problem with personally, and it is MILES above the life of the Sea Orgers of similar age bracket; and wear a variety of freespeech TShirts:

“Ex Sea Org Member, 1975-2003, Retired ……”

That’d give the HGB staffers something to contemplate!

“OSA Janet Weiland Do the Right Thing and Go to the FBI and Rat Out all of OSA’s Criminality” (and be sure to bring a bunch of “Handling Programs” with you for evidence)

    • Linda Clement

Maybe you and Fred can work as a team for protests, so you can look out for each other.

  • kemist

Whatever you do Pascal, hang on to your passport.

  • MrsLurksALot
  • Susan black

Who’s the guy who moved into Fred’s house only to scream at him? Would/could Dave have sent one of his goons to stir up trouble and get Fred kicked out?

    • Yeps!

    • 0tessa

      But of course

    • chuckbeattyexseaorg75to03

There is or was (they may have now shredded all copies, but some people in OSA will still have copies in paper form) “Handling Program” which will have targets that directly or indirectly (in some lame code language) refer to that “target” (for real) of “Handling Fred…..”

There will or was a paper trail and it was written at OSA.

The “Handling Programs” more of those need to leak to the Press and Media frankly can print all of mine if they wish, mine is disgusting but it’s on Marty’s blog.

Scientology OSA’s “Handling Programs” are the disgraceful paper trail in OSA that more leaking needs to occur

PS: Any OSA internet people reading this, please do the right thing, defect to the FBI with a load of the “Handling Programs” that have dodgy semi or fully illegal things and also give Tony here a bunch of them too!

      • Chee Chalker

And let’s not forget…….this is a CHURCH engaging in this behavior

        • Sine qua non

A TAX EXEMPT church. Thanks, IRS! 😒

        • Free Minds, Free Hearts

You forgot the quotes around “church.”

          • Sine qua non

Oopsie. Also forgot to spell it “cherch”.

      • Lurkness

Chuck, posted this down thread and it should have gone here.

For those unfamiliar with OSA “Handling Reports/Programs” and their plans to “fair game” and destroy critics, you can find links to the handling programs prepared to attack Chuck Beatty and Tory Christman (Magoo) below.

It is standard operating to procedure to go after your weak points including your job and housing. One only has to think of Ms Bloody Butt to know going after Fred’s housing situation is exactly what OSA would try to do (especially after the first OSA (Janet Weiland) operative’s visit to Fred’s transitional home failed to get him kicked out). See Fred’s explanation here: https://jennyatlax.wordpress.com/2016/05/05/the-church-of-scientologys-campagin-to-silence-me/

Chuck and Tory’s Handling Programs here:

You can see the detailed OSA planning and efforts to get Tory fired in her report reproduced here:

    • madame duran

It’s unfortunate that he had to leave the transitional home under that circumstance (harassment). One would think that Fred’s reputation as a long-time, peaceful resident with no previous record of trouble would count for something. Isn’t there any form of mediation in this case? Can he apply for re-admittance? Is the rule of kicking out two conflicting residents a typical response by transitional home/shelter management? I don’t know.

      • Flying High

Yes I completely agree and Fred recently mentioned that he never ever violated the 10:00 pm curfew rule in all the time he resided there and then all of a sudden the ‘new’ resident engages in ‘yelling’ that would get both of them kicked out. Why wasn’t Fred’s peaceful history of 4 years residency taken into account where the eviction should have solely been applied to this ‘new’ resident!

    • Juicer77

If it were anyone but the Co$, I would say no… BUT

    • Kim O’Brien

It’s a fucking half way house . The overall situation does not breed stability . Gimmie a break people .

      • ithilien

Might agree with you in other cases, but from the begnning fred was posting that this person was doing odd things, involving freds mail i think, that seemed focused on him and he mentioned them from the beginning. Well, before the ‘pfa’. Could be a coincidence could not be, might be instability, but its certanly not in the gimme a break category to wonder about this. .

        • Kim O’Brien

not everyone who lives in those situations , are stable . That includes not only a man who screams at Fred , but also Fred , who thinks someone moved into the house to scream at him . Scientology leaves people paranoid . I am more willing to believe that a halfway house full of people who have a myriad of issues , is more likely to be an issue for Fred …than a fucking spy from a cult who for SOME reason …would send someone into a halfway house to yell at a man . When i hear hoofbeats …i think ” horse ” not ” unicorn” . But a lot of people will just believe anything , no matter what . After all , they joined a cult that promises super powers …so a ton of people from this cult will ALWAYS believe things ..with ZERO evidence . It’s just more exciting to them than real life .

I am obviously in the dark on this.. but it is rather stunning to me that Fred hasn’t been hired by someone.. or hasn’t landed a full time job to help him turn his life about. He is obviously intelligent, literate, fit, and driven! What a great employee he would make! (hint hint). I am so glad the cherch settled and very upset to hear he was booted out of his domicile. Just doesn’t seem right. A full time job would cut down on his SCN pics and reporting, but having a secure base from which to operate, 3 squares and a bit of $$ cushion I would think comes first. Just sayin’.. if there are any employers out there in the L.A. reading the Bunker who need a stalwart gentleman available for hire. And yes, very presumptuous of me to speak on Fred’s behalf. But thar ya go. I felt it, I wrote it. xoxo

    • Tweeted!

      • madge filpot

        Oh yay!

    • Fred G. Haseney

Your compliments have been well-received, madge filpot. Thank you for speaking on my behalf to employers (via the Bunker) in Los Angeles. I had a doctor recently diagnose me, physically, as Disabled (which has a bit to do with a Birth Defect). Now that I’m clear across the county and out of harm’s way, I’ll pursue the Disabled angle and find out what’s in store for me there. I truly consider scientology “harm’s way.”

  • Lovely work on getting forward regarding the presence at Big Blue (and how come the criminal organisation known as the “church” of $cientology is a party?). Just hope the agreement puts boundaries on the behaviour of the Co$.

And tough luck about the housing situation (although it’s reasonable to expect that had nothing to do with it, proof would be handy and, I fear, not so easy to come by)

It all goes to show, that if you too much interest in wrestling a pig, you’re at a risk of getting muddy… I have personally skipped protesting in LA, Hemet and in Clearwater.

  • Observer

    It’s like a reverse Nigerian scam…

  • Bert Allen

I am sure that Fred and Graham are prohibited by the settlement from filing any related complaints against anyone associated with the TRO, but that does not prevent other LA citizens from filing a complaint against Moxon for taking a case he knew was false from the beginning. Unlikely to be successful, but I like to see him busy defending himself instead of attacking dissidents.

A better case would be to file a perjury/making false sworn statements complaint with the DA against Beatriz Castro Macias.

  • Jon S

    • Missionary Kid

As I’ve posted elsewhere, this organization has done a lot for Fred, so please be respectful to anyone you contact. They are also helping at least one other former member with counseling.

      • I was afraid of this. Never underestimate the ability of a handful of uninformed zealots to make even the best intended groups on the Internet look like frothing loons. Don’t do OSA’s job for them. We should direct our ire toward the bad guys. The ones in control at the big blue building.

How effective would the billboard have been had I written the copy to say “Fuck You Davey, GImme My Goddamn Kids Back”? Okay, that would have been a joy to see at fifty feet across, but the appeal would have been decidedly limited and the intended audience further alienated.

    • ithilien

The advice to be respectful is obviously good, but dont be surprised if the exes run away from the idea of contacting these folks and asking them to reconsider. Its ex scis. They dont fight back.

  • OT: Billboard In the news: http://patch.com/florida/clearwater/call-me-billboard-takes-aim-scientology-disconnection

And they got the links right! Yay!

  • Jeb Burton

I’m glad this dude settled his case, but I think he may need a change in priorities. Maybe a job and housing?

    • Juicer77

We don’t know the whole story of why Fred has had difficulties. I would imagine this shake-up will realign some things for him. Hopefully in a good way.

      • shasha40

Um , isn’t this how COS leaves all it’s former members , broke , homeless and little skills that translate to jobs in the Real world . And we have been told repeatedly how long it takes to decompress from this , this , criminal organization named COS . Tick , tock tiny member , anxiously awaiting your turn to be destitute !!!!

        • Missionary Kid

In spite of his own situation, Fred has reached out to other ex-sea org members who’ve been kicked out with nothing.

          • shasha40

I am not surprised . I have so mcuh respect for him just for going out and informing others of how they operate just by tapping them in action ! It’s not his fault the sciloons perform for the camera !!! Lol Thanks for that extra bit of info regarding Fred , you just made me Love him that much more !!! 🙂 I despise COS as a never in , because of how they absolutely ruin peples lives across the board . I have love and compassion in me for all my fellow human beings , especially those that survive unbelievable traumas and come out the other side and try to pay it forward . And I’m a firm believer in the saying , “Don’t judge a person until you’ve walked a mile in their moccassins .” I probably messed that up , like I do alot of ” sayings” , but you get it , right ??? Lol

    • What’sup

Pretty good point Jeb. Here’s another good point.

You can be a total dick at times.

      • Jeb Burton

I just get sick of every ex is a super hero. If Fred was a Scientologist, it’s probably his own fault he got kicked out of the transition housing. Ever try to talk to a Scientologist? Yet all of you think DM sent in a guy to get him kicked out. Come on.

        • Bobby Tolberto aka TDA

Nice. If you had the courage that Fred has shown in his efforts you wouldn’t be writing crap like this. What’s next, “He pulled it in?” When’s the last time you even wrote a letter to the local fishwrap.

          “Come on.”
Yes, that’s what they do. Remember the guy who befriended Paulette Cooper? And all the PI’s they sent after Exes who were speaking out or were otherwise relevant. It is SOP. Millions and millions spent on surveillance and trying to silence people*.

“I just get sick of every ex is a super hero.” Understood. Hope you are joining the crowd at the Clearwater Billboard initiation. 🙂

The first sentence of my comment was not in jest, in fact, none of it was. You’re probably right. The only person I’ve come to blows with professionally was a Scientologist (smoked clam anyone?)

You just don’t need to say that here bro. Fred’s not asking for charity.

way to kick him when he’s down Jeb. Guy’s almost homeless and you figure this is the time to shame him?

      • What’sup

        All class.

        • Draco

You having fun with your name changes? 😀
Just don’t lose the avi and the (‘sup) or we won’t know you!!

      • pluvo

I agree with Jeb. I don’t think he wants to shame Fred but cannot show his concern, so is talking a bit rough.

        • Observer

Jeb has a long history of shaming exes. He has stated more than once that they deserve whatever has happened to them.

          • pluvo

He is not the only one here who does that (Kim mentions frequently that Scios AND Exes are stupid etc) but it is he who gets immediately put in his place. I’m an Ex and many times don’t agree with Jeb, but in this case he is right, although he could have said it more nicely – but nicely is just not his style. Just saying.

            • Observer

People have objected to Kim before, but here’s the difference: she can and does show compassion. Jeb does not.

Also, he’s saying that that Fred has put his protesting before his job search and housing situation. I know for a fact that is not true; Fred has been actively trying to find employment, and he had housing at the time COS started their shenanigans. The job market is tight to begin with, and for someone who has only been out of a hardcore cult for a couple of years it’s even more difficult.

              Jeb is dead wrong.

            • shasha40

              Amen , Obs . Xoxo

            • flyonthewall

how do you know he’s right? Just bc Fred is going to take pix of an event means that he isn’t looking for a job or more permanent housing? It’s totally impossible for him to do both? That’s absurd and ignorant. In this case Jeb isn’t just being impolite or crude, he’s being needlessly cruel.

And yes people have objected to Kim’s statements, myself included.

            • pluvo

“Just bc Fred is going to take pix of an event means that he isn’t looking for a job or more permanent housing?”

No, I’m not talking about taking pix at the event. I’m worried about Fred (actually was before and told him to be careful).
I liked his reporting but he puts himself very much in danger. Scn won’t stop when he is walking around in their clampire every day – and in their eyes very provoking.
The rejection of the TRO was only a stumbling block for them, they will continue with their fair game program. They can harm him much more when he doesn’t have his situation stabilized (especially housing). I hope sb in LA is helping him, so that he is less vulnerable.

  • WOG with Attitude

Geez, someone give Fred a decent job! And get him back to his transitional home. This is clearly a Scientology operation! They need to to make an exception to the rule in this case, and what a stupid rule! “I don’t care who started it, you’re both wrong.” What?!? Rules by doubty school marm?!?

I’m glad Scientology realized they couldn’t take him to court. Perhaps it was just a distraction in the first place. They had no proof of this woman’s perjury.

How fricking crazy this sick cult is! All he’s done is take pictures. WTF are they so ashamed of?! Just pictures of what is going on there, nothing more.

    Good luck Fred!!!

    • Imagine that they was so afraid of Karen that they would call it off… Ha! – Thank you Karen!

  • Mary Smith

Fred, I assume there would be a lot of people that appreciate your reports and hope for a glimpse of their child trapped in the SeaOrg. My suggestion is to set up a GoFundMe for your reporting skills. This could pay for your expenses to live close by and report. Just a thought.

    • shasha40

      Hey , that’s agood idea !!!

    • pluvo

Then he would make himself dependent on the Sci reporting. They will not give up and will find other means to get him to back off or they have it already lined up. They have unlimited funds to fight him. I like his reporting too but I am worried about him – he shouldn’t do his peaceful actions alone anymore, so that he has always a witness to counter their accusations. If Fred doesn’t stabilize his life circumstances he is in danger.

      • Mary Smith

        True, didn’t think of this.

  • Simon Tology

“Under the house rules at Hope Again, when a conflict develops between two tenants, both of them are asked to leave.”

That doesn’t exactly seem like the fairest rule I ever heard of.

    • HillieOnTheBeach

      You’re telling me.

Imagine the hardship such a rule causes in the wake of a perpetually quarrelsome and troublesome person no matter where they live and whatever the underlying reason for their behavior (ie mental health issues).

    • madame duran

For a homeless person to be asked to leave a temporary lodging is more than an inconvenience…it’s like cutting off a lifeline. I thought the goal was to help vulnerable people who are–for whatever reason–at a very low point in their lives. Did they even help Fred in finding an alternative place? It just seems so…cold.

      • Missionary Kid

They have helped Fred in many other ways in addition to housing. I don’t know if they’ve done anything to find him a new place.

      • ithilien

And arbitrary. Someone makes trouble for you and you have to leave?

    • chukicita

I have worked with homeless families in the past, and it’s hard enough to simply rise above the stigma to be able to address the overwhelming barriers of homelessness.

It does seem like a cold rule. But the population they are working with is all over the map of states of mental health. Anyone who works with transitional populations knows that whatever they’re doing, they cannot help everyone and what they’re doing isn’t going to align with every homeless person’s needs. They really have to set parameters based on the greatest possibility of maintaining stability for everyone there.

It seems like they could have at least offered both of them some counseling and followup, but I also know that homelessness in L.A. has shot up in the past decade and resources are scarce.

There’s at least one ‘church’ there that’s for sure doing absolutely nothing about homelessness.

      • HillieOnTheBeach

“It does seem like a cold rule. But the population they are working with is all over the map of states of mental health.”

I see your point, but to me, the very wide spectrum of circumstances and mental health issues that can affect homeless/vulnerable people is exactly the reason why there shouldn’t be unilateral rules.

        • chukicita

Every service agency has limits on what they can provide; what they’re good at and what they don’t have the resources to deal with. I can’t think of a single one (especially faith-based) that can address every problem. They’re all nonprofits on shoestring budgets, and it’s unfair to expect them to not make some rules. I’m sure those rules are made evident to participants going in.

Believe me, I’ve seen much more stringent rules. Nothing like making an already-marginalized population even more marginalized. But you also have to try to help those who want it, and be able to let go of those you can’t help.

It’s beyond unfortunate that this rule impacted Fred, whether it was on purpose or not.

    • dungeon master

Especially when one has been there 4 years and the other less than 4 weeks. Seems to me fred had established he could get along. Rather obvious set up.edit auto correct

    Dear Pascal Chukwuebuka Nwoga,
I hope you enjoy your shared accomodations at the 2-star Pennsylvania Hotel.
This represents about $50/night for 4 nights plus meals (modest also, I am sure.)
Your scholarship has a total value of approximately $350 -$400 at most.

Your return flight from Lagos is approx $1000.
Your visa fee will be $140.
Your mandatory medical and travel insurance will cost approx. $100.
Spending monies will be extra and NYC does not come cheap.
At least $200 to $300 if you are parsimonious.

    Grand total: $1440 -$1540

With friends like Mary Shuttleworth, I’m sure you will have a time.
Weather in NYC at that time of the year can be quite clammy.

Can I suggest you visit this diner which is very close to your hotel? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ef1dc0b01ee4b571593b40e08055ba9f5ea351c98b17a2696252177ca4d81fd9.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ffcf2ba11524fd55a67dcd1d2f7c3eceaf3e23012e9cb60ff1afe1c75e98f115.jpg

I am not a “tweeter” but perhaps someone could tweet ABC’s 20/20 as a follow up to the LA billboard story for the Clearwater billboard.

  • Flying High

This is great and Fred may be the first individual who got paid (settlement) by the ‘church’ to picket them as well as paid for his photo journalism work documenting their shrinkage. And didn’t the ‘church’ know that Fred is JennyAtLAX where that scene on video would probably have been played at the hearing to show who really stalks who? 🙂

    • Tony Ortega

As far as I know the settlement did not involve any money.

    • Settlement == money. It just means that they came to an agreement outside of court. It could have been as simple as, “You leave Beatriz alone. We leave you alone.”

      • Flying High

I hear you and hope that wasn’t the case as Fred went into detail how what they filed will stay with him as a permanent record on public reports plus the 3 grand or so he raise to pay Graham Berry. So I at least hope the public record on him got expunged, he received his attorney fee and a little something for himself. Otherwise they can do it to another protester and then play the ‘sorry’ and do the ‘settlement’ out of court where that person is out 3 grand.

  • Dee Findlay-DeElizabethan

Good luck and good news, Fred. Confront and shatter! Karen’s name made a difference. They didn’t want this to happen.
Thank you Fred and Berry for taking this on. I do feel for your personal living conditions and my best for your success in finding a place to live and work.

  • dungeon master

The more I read, the more the lawsuit looks like a feint, to draw attention from their primary action, to get Feed kicked out of his home. I am so sad I could cry. Homelessness is a worse problem than court against 27 lawyers. This was nefarious by any standard. And moxon gets to smile and say, we’re reasonable people. I call bullshit.

    • Science Doc

I agree. In fact it was probably a multi pronged strategy with elements that won’t be deployed given the success with his housing. I hate to say this, but Fred is too vulnerable to remain as exposed as he is, and he should restrict his activities to rigorously have one or preferably several wingmen.

      • Harpoona Frittata

There is safety in numbers, so that’s very good general advice for anyone who wants to get right in their face like Fred has. It’s great to be brave, but it’s even better to be smart and brave so that you can live to fight on another day, because $cn has the financial resources of a small third-world country and the mentality of a swarm of killer bees so it won’t go down easily or soon.

$cn’s success in utilizing their Fair Game policy against individuals and groups without sufficient funds to defend themselves adequately during the pre-internet days has now come back to bite them in the ass as hundreds, even thousands, of folks attest to the church’s long history and very clear pattern of doing exactly what they’ve done to Fred (and much, much worse) on a variety of sites such as this one.

Elron’s Oaty prescience failed him badly when it came to predicting the rise of the internet and what that medium of instantaneous communication – from one to millions – would mean for the effectiveness of the church’s many ‘dirty tricks’ operations. In the age of the internet, you can run but you can not hide, and despite whatever verbal protestations and misdirection you might come up with, a consistent, documented pattern of going after ‘gnats’ like Fred with a sledge hammer starts to look like exactly what it is in fairly short order to those who are paying attention.

Fortunately, more and more individuals who have never had any contact with $cn in the past are having their pre-contact experience with the cult colored by the bad PR that the cult keeps earning for itself almost daily. Even more effective in ‘inoculating’ virgin public against the cult’s recruitment efforts are documentaries like Going Clear and irreverent send-ups like the BIG lol South park episode, which may have done more with humor to ‘dead agent’ the cult than an army of lawyers and reporters could ever hope to achieve.

As long as lil davey and his OSA minions continue to follow Elron’s policy on dealing with detractors to the letter and refuse to adapt to the new reality of the digital age, their shit’s toast, now and into the foreseeable future. When and if lil davey ever breaks cover again, he’s going to face questions he can’t truthfully answer, posed to him by a legion of folks he can’t order to The Hole. And he’s already begun to cut his own comm lines and bunker down away from all prying eyes, just as Elron did before.

Here’s to the hope that he just continues on down that very same path (clink, clink).

    • Elizabeth Lavet

I am wondering if Fred needs to hire his attorney to represent him with the housing he was kicked out of. Seems a little investigating needs to be done. Go Fred Go. You’re doing a great job.

    • Harpoona Frittata

Exactly what I was thinking. Losing your place to live is a far worse consequence than having a restraining order that requires you to stay away from a person that you’ve never met!

Sounds like it’s time for a little reverse Unfair Gaming! My bet is that the individual who unmagically showed up at Fred’s group living residence was a plant, sent there to stir shit up and get him kicked out.

Someone should tail him for a bit and see how long it takes for him to report in to his $cn masters.

Remember, hunting season on OSA operatives runs year round and there is NO bag limit!

      • Jimmy3

        I found one!

      • dungeon master

I would not poke sticks in rattlesnake nests. My guess is it’s just a random homeless guy who they ‘hired’ to get Fred kicked out, and you could follow him forever, and they may never need his services again.

        • Harpoona Frittata

You and Fly are both right. The church’s bully tactics piss me off, especially when they target the most vulnerable, but cooler heads should always prevail! Any counter-cult activism effort needs to be very carefully thought through in order to anticipate all of the potential consequences it might result in.

        • ithilien

So dont protest, dont take pictures, dont write blogs. Just give up

          • dungeon master

?? I’m not sure how you got that from what I said, but he wasn t suggesting protesting, taking pictures or writing a blog. He wanted to connect the guy who got Fred thrown out of his lodging to OSA, I’m not sure that would help Fred’s situation, and I’m always concerned about our activists safety. All I’m saying is spend your energy where it will do the most good and be safe. I adore Fred (Fred, I’m sorry if it embarrasses you by associating you with my discus ID. My intentions are pure). ML, dungeon

      • flyonthewall

Statements like this are what OSA and others latch onto to falsely accuse us of being violent stalkers

        • ithilien

Thats such a ridiculous comment. Following the plant who was responsible for making someone homeless is wrong because scientology will call us names.

          • We don’t even know this person’s name. It’s ridiculous to make the leap that the person is a Scientology agent. There are plenty of assholes out there who like to start shit that aren’t Scientologists and aren’t hired by Scientologists and have nothing to do and probably don’t even know about Scientology. Fuck if I credited Scientology with every bad thing that ever happened to me in my life, they would literally be controlling every aspect of it.

Fred is very outspoken. If he had any reason to believe the person responsible for his eviction was a Scientologist or a Scientology-paid individual, he would have said it, by now. Of that I am sure.

    • Enturbulated Masterbator

I would gladly give Fred a place to stay if I lived in LA. I have empty space now but I’m too far away. Best of luck Fred! I am willing to donate a little $ to help with your living expenses. It’s not much but maybe he could cobble together enough to get by for a few months extra.

    • ithilien

Yes dungeon master. You are right. Fred didnt win. He lost his housing and is now spending his savings, while people here, the only support group he ‘has’ make crude jokes about rim jobs and categorize the homeless. When he first mentioned this new problem person at the shelter i suggested to him directly at he get a background check done. Why didnt his attorney suggest and encourage it. Its pretty obvious it was a two pronged attack. The pfa request was flimsy and they knew it

      • dungeon master

It sounds like you’re in touch and helping watch Fred’s back. And for that I’m thankful. People have no concept of how truly devastating it is to be homeless, and I think the failure of this country to care for the poor will impact generations. I hope the j&d were just attempts to lighten a very difficult subject. Come on everyone! Join hands! ‘we are the world, we are the bunker, we have a chance.. ‘What was that?? Did you just tell me to STFU?? Guess I’ll put myself to bed. Night all!

For those unfamiliar with OSA “Handling Reports/Programs” and their plans to “fair game” and destroy critics, you can find links to the handling reports prepared to attack Chuck Beatty (as he mentions in comments) and Tory Christman (Magoo) below.

A big thank you to photographers like Fred Haseney and Mark Bunker and all the others that I can’t think of off the top of my head. $cientologists’ own behaviors are some of the best criticism of the cult that you could have. They put themselves in a very bad light. Just watched an old video done by Mark Bunker, mobbed by a group of OTs shouting Nazis go home and getting up in Mark’s face, trying to cover his camera with tiny American flags etc. It takes calm and collected persons to do that. I am sorry I don’t know all the names, basically you are often unsung heros. Thank you so much.

  • Stephanie Loving

I wonder where this new tenant that disliked Fred so much hailed from? Shades of Paulette and her live-in spy? I wouldn’t put it past OSA to send someone in to get Fred kicked out.

    • Evey Hammond

      My sentiments exactly.

  • Draco

I am happy the court case has gone away, but sad that Fred is homeless 🙁
Vindictive cult is vindictive. Hopefully karma is not asleep at the wheel. Malignant Midget – next time some serious shit hits your personal fan (which seems to happen quite often), think of Fred. At least Fred has people who care and worry about him – I am thinking that if you somehow lost all you ill-gotten loot and ended up on the street, not too many people would give a f*%k. Cult love is very shallow.

  • We’re a big-hearted crew for the most part. We love to support our activist heroes (yes Jeb, some of us think exes who speak out are heroes). But can we just listen to the people who know Fred IRL for a second? Unless you’re one of those people, you’re commenting in the dark. And please, don’t go off on the people. Who run Hope Again. Those of us who aren’t his RL friends have exactly zero knowledge about how that all went down. If Fred asks for help, by all means pitch in. But, realize that anything you do in righteous anger could backfire and make his life harder than it already is. Please, don’t do OSA’s job for them.

    • Jimmy3

      Mommy what is rimjob?

That’s a character in the James Bondage spy films, honey.

      • James Plantain Blandgadget, how many times does Mommy have to tell you she’s busy? Now go outside and ask that nice man at the playground what that is (returns to phone and takes drag off 25th Raleigh of the day). I tell you Burt, that kid’s onto us, it’s like they’re all psychic these days . . .

I agree. I was harsh, but I don’t think your helping this guy. I would be willing to donate to a fund to get this guy training at a vocational school. I think that him roaming around big blue isn’t probably the best thing for him right now. Does he have issues that make him unemployable? I don’t know and may be talking out of my ass, a!though that has never happened.

      • Jimmy3

I would be willing to donate to a fund to send you to a locational school, but only if the location is in North Korea.

      • flyonthewall

just bc he’s taking pix of an event on an afternoon doesn’t mean he’s neglecting his responsibilities and not looking for a job and permeanent housing. He can do both

        • Jeb Burton

Has been out of permanent job since 2009? Ok

          • You have never heard the saying, “There but for the grace of God go I.” Humble yourself Jeb. Not all of us are as fortunate as you.

              Poor guy.

            • Justmeteehee

Especially those who managed to break free of Scientology, sadly, not everyone has a family and support system to return to after years in the cult. Wishing nothing but peace and positivity for Fred’s future. I have a soft spot for him.

            • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you very much for that, Justmeteehee.

          • flyonthewall

the guy just stood up to the cult in court and won. He deserves a celebratory visit to Big Blue to reaffirm his hard won freedom to protest.

You’re passing pretty harsh judgement on a guy you don’t know and have never met. You don’t know his circumstances. Not good

          • Snippy_X

There is no such thing as a permanent job.

          • Fred G. Haseney

I’ve had three full-time jobs in the last four years, thanks to the support Hope Again provided, but nothing that lasted long enough to get me back on my feet. In fact, one of those employers worked two employees hard, and I ended up with Workers Compensation the result of a back injury for which I needed physical therapy.

        • Fred G. Haseney

In order to secure future housing, I had to jump through hoops with the Dept. of Public Social Services, let me tell you. I searched for jobs daily and provided proof of those searches with the hope and promise of that temporary housing. Then my housemate at Hope Again went all-out in his relentless attack on me from the inside while scientology attacked me with the TRO from the outside. All of a sudden, that hope and promise of housing through DPSS collapsed when someone changed my work status. Because of that change, my name fell off the roster; DPSS suddenly had no interest in securing that housing and kept pointing fingers at each other in laying the responsibility elsewhere. Then I received the eviction, moved into a motel temporarily, found bed bugs as welcomed hosts at the new transitional home and through up my arms. I knew scientology would drag me kicking and screaming to court, and this time, they would make the Accuser’s charges stick. Suddenly, the taste in my mouth felt nasty and I realized scientology can go to hell in their own handbasket, but without the likes of me.

          • flyonthewall

I’m really sorry you had to go through all that. Hope you’re happy at your new place. Maybe take a break from all things Scientology until you’re on stronger footing, happy and stable? Wishing you the best, everyone here does.

      • Bobby Tolberto aka TDA

You know Jeb, you want someone to do something about the CoS, but when they do, you dare to say, well, maybe they should have some permanent housing before they do that.

Try to walk a mile in his shoes, before becoming judgemental.

        • Jeb Burton

I feel deeply, believe it or not, for the homeless. To me there are two kinds of homeless. People who are there temporarily who have lost everything and need help to get on their feet. That was me years ago. Then their are addicts and the mentally ill, who will always be homeless because they don’t want help, or are unable to get it. Fred seems to be in the first group. I wish him luck.

          • Jimmy3

Those two categories don’t seem mutually exclusive at all. I think you should reevaluate your homeless person ranking system.

            • flyonthewall

OT – here in STL they’re trying to pass a law that would require you to have a license to give food to the homeless. Effectively making it illegal to feed the homeless. You could be fined for giving a guy a sandwich. Ridiculous

            • Liberated

I’ve never heard anything so crazy, feeding people starving people is a crime. Wow.
Btw, my son and his buddy are in STL right now, going to a cardinals’ game. Please don’t bother him.

            • Jimmy3

While I think that’s a shitty law, I do understand the reasoning behind it. At a place I used to work, we would throw out a garbage bag full of day-old bread loaves every morning. It felt so wrong and I hated doing it. It was still soft and good. People buy and eat day-old bread all the damn time, so why is this not okay to donate to a soup kitchen? Well, it turns out another store in another state had to settle after someone got sick. So instead of just following the same safety procedures to ensure that donatable food is safe, they just say fuck it. Throw all of it away. Sad, but that’s how it is.

            • flyonthewall

That has a logic to it but this is different. I should of mentioned that it’s not limited to just food. It includes anything, like blankets. This is aimed at making homelessness less visible; chasing them out of parks etc by cutting off their access to goods donated to them by groups and individuals.

              http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/proposed-st-louis-bill-would-require-license-give-homeless#stream/0

            • Jimmy3

Idiots. Blankets would only help make them less visible.

            • Qbird

              🙁

            • Rasha

Do they figure that this just encourages people to stay homeless and live off others? Sounds like a bureaucratic line of reasoning.

              The old,

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day,
Teach a man to fish, and he’ll say,
‘Hey! What the hell happened to all my free fish??’ ”

              way of thinking.

            • flyonthewall

That and getting handouts encourages them to stay out in public view. Their reasoning is I guess to make it uncomfortable for them and push them out of public view

            • Rasha

              *nods*

            • MM

“Sounds like a bureaucratic line of reasoning”

More like a ‘humanitarian’ line of reasoning, actually (in an Ayn Rand kind of way)… and, imho, not entirely dissimilar to what another great ‘Humanitarian’ once said:

“A Venezuelan dictator once decided to stop leprosy. He saw that most lepers in his country were also beggars. By the simple expedient of collecting and destroying all the beggars in Venezuela an end was put to leprosy in that country.”
              – L. Ron Hubbard, Science of Survival

Hi Robert, I tend to believe what you post (I know, I should always check what anyone says), but this has me in disbelief. Would you point me to your sources for this statement? I actually believe it, but don’t want to, so would like proof before I pass this along. Thanks!

            • Robert Eckert

I’m not sure where I originally heard that, and it may be a little exaggerated, but there are various sources indicating that America throws away about as much food as it eats, and while China has four times the population of America, Chinese people also don’t eat as much per capita:
              http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/21/food-waste-americans-throw-away-food-study_n_1819340.html

            • coonellie

Thanks Robert. I’ll check out the link and do some more research. It makes sense, unfortunately.

I’ve gone hungry and been homeless. We use everything in the C house. I even save the trimmings from my veggies and any bones from cooking to make bone broth every week.

            • sweeper

Long time lurker here. There are “radical” organizations that actually dumpster dive to use that food. Places that had to throw out food, at least when I was there, would surreptitiously let the kitchen know when they were dumping perfectly good food, and we’d get it. Illegal, yes. But at least the restaurant or grocery itself wouldn’t be liable and clients got fed! Used to be a sign in the dining room: “we reserve the right to serve refuse to anyone!”

            • flyonthewall

Freegan! I only eat out of my own trash. I’m sorry but it’s just the way I was raised.

            • Kay

              What???? That IS ridiculous !!

            • Fly Lady

That’s why I’ve stopped giving you sandwiches. Just in case.

            • Kay

              Laugh !!

            • Kay

P.S. I always get McDonald’s or Wendy’s or Domino’s f I want to feed a homeless person. That way they can blame any issues on those companies, not on food I’ve made myself. Plus it’s high in fat which is bad for people unless it’s really cold out or they are grossly underfed….which is usually the case…then people need the extra calories and fat to put on weight to stay warm.

            • flyonthewall

and coincidentally my explosive diarrhea also stopped. Weird

            • Fly Lady

Talk about irony… Guess what your sandwiches were made of!!

            • flyonthewall

              iron?

            • Fly Lady

              Good guess.

            • Aurora Aura

That’s terrible. And I wonder what the fines would go toward? Not helping the homeless epidemic, I’m sure. A law banning you from feeding a fellow human being. Incredibly sad world this is 🙁

          • Every person on earth has a different set of circumstances. People who are homeless are all individuals, and each person has a different story as to how they ended up where they are. There aren’t “two types”. That’s ridiculous.

            • Bobby Tolberto aka TDA

As Robert Benchley put it, there are two kinds of people in the world. Those who divide people into two catagories, and those who don’t.

            • ithilien

              I love robert benchley

          • And how arrogant and presumptuous to assume that your story in any way would represent an entire class of people.

          • Qbird

I was homeless once myself. My friends helped me. That is all.

:::whenever possible, I return the favor.:::

            • Bobby Tolberto aka TDA

We had a case here where a friend of mine was in danger of being evicted because a caregiver cleaned out his bank account. Fortunately, it never came to that, but unless you own the land you live on and have a secure income, anyone can be at risk for being homeless.

            • Jimmy3

That was kind of them to help him clean.

            • Bobby Tolberto aka TDA

              Homo hominid lupus est.

Civilization and Its Discontents, “Men are not
gentle creatures, who want to be loved, who
at the most can defend themselves if they are
attacked; they are, on the contrary, creatures
among whose instinctual endowments is to be
reckoned a powerful share of aggressiveness.
As a result, their neighbor is for them not only a
potential helper or sexual object, but also
someone who tempts them to satisfy their
aggressiveness on him, to exploit his capacity for
work without compensation, to use him sexually
without his consent, to seize his possessions, to
humiliate him, to cause him pain, to torture and to
kill him. Homo homini lupus. Who in the face of all
his experience of life and of history, will have the
              courage to dispute this assertion?”

              Sigmund Freud

          • Kay

I don’t know that I necessarily agree with your classification system as it is too simplistic in my experience, although I think your comment does point to two of the many populations who are homeless.

Re: Addicts/Alcoholics….many of these people DO want help…they don’t know how to access help because their thinking is so impaired, or they can’t get into a Methadone clinic or detox center due to accessibility or transportation. The “real” person inside that you can’t see because of the chemicals does not want to live this way. NO ONE does. They are where they are because they see no way out…and they are living with a lot of shame and without hope. I don’t believe the true essence of any human being wants to be sleeping on concrete with a needle in their arm. I’ve seen addicts and alcoholics homeless people for years in ERs and they are in a complex situation that requires some real help and resources. Yes, I think some of them say they don’t want help anymore because they are so hooked on drugs that all they think about is a fix….but every single one I have dealt with HAS desperately wanted help at one time or another and has told me that. Drug addiction generally includes other issues such as depression, survival of child sexual abuse, prolonged domestic abuse, genetic predisposition and unfortunately, ends up including prostitution to support a habit that exists in order to suppress indredibly low self esteem or no self esteem at all. This is a very complicated issue. They simply feel they have gone too far to ever go back again, and would rather not be emotionally present in their lives because the pain and shame is too great, so they continue to use.

Mentally ill: The majority of mentally ill people on the street have schizophrenia or paranoid schizophrenia. This means that they actively see people who aren’t there, hear voices (some of them telling them what to do) and see a completely different reality than the rest of us. Often they hear multiple voices in their head all at once, all of the time.) This renders them incapable of advocating for themselves, of organizing their thoughts or actions or doing anything to help themselves at all. As a result, they don’t get medicated, slip through the tracks and don’t get housing, and are often the victims of violent crime. Homelessness is not a choice for them…the majority of these people were dumped out of the mental health system with inadequate follow-up due to underfunded programs. They get help usually when they commit some small crime and get put back into the system…if they don’t cycle back into the system, they eventually die while homeless. They don’t want to be on the street…to be there is risky and very dangerous to them, they just don’t have the mental capacity to go anywhere else.

:One of the clinical rotations I make my psych nursing students go through is to rotate through the homeless shelters and soup kitchens. This is a life-changer for them. They see whole families there with young kids, people who obviously looked like they had a good life before some catastrophe befell them. They see men with a good education whose business went belly-up or whose employer’s business failed. They see women running from domestic violence, girls running from sexual abuse in their families. They see every kind of person with every level of education and prior resources, every racial group. It is always very surprising to them. When you volunteer in these facilities, you see the reality of homelessness in America, and that reality has as many, many faces and multitudes of stories unique to each person.

          • Linda Clement

There’s a group you forgot: the disabled. You may not understand this, but it is possible to be able to take walks every few days, maintain a website and still be unable to work according to someone else’s schedule. Been there, done exactly that. Until the last few years, most people around me did not see the illness. I could and did exercise much of the time, always being careful not to overdo it and cause my disease to flare up.

I wasn’t sleeping on the streets, but the place I was living (my parents’ home) was so unhealthy that I was classified “homeless, emergency” by the local housing department. Bless them, within 2 weeks they had me in a really nice little apartment in a complex built and maintained by the city for disabled people. My kittehs loved it too.

Please, folks, no matter who you are talking about in any context, please remember that unless you are close to them personally your ignorance far outweighs your information.

Frederick Douglass is one of those people who is like a fine wine which with age gets better the more history rolls along and we find out who really got a lot right. My two half black adult children are so wise beyond their years though my sophomore in college teenage son makes me want to pull my chest hair out at times since I shave my head but he’s finally learned to pause and call Dad before he does something that might be risky. I credit my teaching them and ingraining in them the teachings of Mark Twain, Ben Franklin, and especially Frederick Douglas, though I had to pay my son $50 bonus to read Douglas’ autobiography and let me quiz him on it (I got him to read Malcolm X’s bio as a bonus for an extra $10). I think Douglas’ ranks as one of top ten autobios of all time and should be required reading by all humans regardless of race or faith. X’s is a great one still that provokes thought about how we can change and realize we were totally wrong in everything we believed. I’m glad you posted this as my son was depressed this week over the fact that he will vote for first time and the two leading candidates are both abominable: one who sold their soul and one with no soul. This poster (meme) is actually very appropriate for him to understand today’s scary political environment. Sending it to him to discuss ASAP!

Thank you so much for this as it made me actually have to clean my monitor as I burst out laughing. I’m pretty lucky. My college sophomore son is learning a lesson I learned far too late in life: don’t take yourself too seriously. Speaking of 1979, I can barely remember that year. It began with the bass player in the band I sang for (we were called Zoned and played a lot of the St. Louis area night clubs…..Granary, Stages, Coliseum 4th & Pine) drinking himself to death in Edwardsville, IL just before the sunrise on Jan 1st. That was my sign to get out the music business and consider going back to college. It took nine months before I returned to finish my degree as my brain was in a fog from all the partying. 1979…a year lost while spaced out.

      • That’s the point I’m trying to make. We don’t know Fred personally. We like the man we know from our interactions with him online. We are outraged at how the church treats Sea Org that they’re done exploiting. We support his well being and want to help, but we may not know how best to do that. I find public speculation as to his mental state or employability to be somewhat disrespectful. I find the suggestion that I’ve seen elsewhere in this thread that people rush headlong into his housing situation with no knowledge of what actually transpired alarming as well. We all want to help. Our ability to be of assistance is limited by our first hand information.

        • Observer

Pretty much everyone’s employability is in question these days. :-/

And yet Trump’s hair-dresser is still getting paid. SMDH

            • Fred G. Haseney

It’s a crazy world we live in, Jimmy3, where so much that’s wrong is “right.”

          • Kay

            Absolutely !

          • I might fire myself at any given moment.

            • Fred G. Haseney

I’ve theoretically fired myself as a Photojournalist but I have a feeling I’ll be back at it in some form or another.

          • Fred G. Haseney

From the moment a new employee walks in the door, the clock is ticking. There’s something wrong with the world economically; many people are too much on edge as a result.

        • pluvo

The housing situation was described by Tony in the article: So, on Tuesday afternoon, Haseney found himself having to trash a large portion of his possessions so he could move out. He’s now staying in a cheap motel and paying for it from savings he managed to eke out from savings he managed to eke out from temporary jobs he’s had over the last four years.

I’ve the feeling meanwhile we are trolling ourselves with the housing situation and have the urge to put the attention troll sign under my own comments.

Let’s go back to the first chapters which are important, that Fred won and that the CoS had to withdraw and to settle and what a powerful SP Karen is.

          • pluvo
          • ithilien

Fred didnt win. Hes out of his housing over this and may have limited ability to post his blog. They didnt get everything they wanted, probably because they knew the pfa was phoney and might fall apart. Hes spending money he had been able to save. He’s someone who has been cut off from the support, friends and family he might have had if he hadnt given his life to sci. They won. And everyone suffers.

            • pluvo

I meant regarding the TRO he won so far, as they have settled. I’m tiered of talking about the housing.

            • Linda Clement

I agree with you part way. Fred hasn’t won YET. If he’s back to producing his incomparable photojournalism tomorrow, that’s part of the win. When he’s got a better place to live and internet access, he’s defeated Scientology’s Torture Tech.

You can’t snap your fingers and stop Torture Tech from happening, but you can beat it down. Torture Tech has an important limitation: it’s got something to hide at all costs. For the most part, its intended recipients don’t. That is some powerful mojo.

Fred has exponential mojo because of his photojournalistic ability, which was smashing some of the church’s smoke and mirrors and showing LA Scientology for the pitiful thing it is. He scared Davy and friends so bad that they spent a fair amount of time and money putting together a Torture Tech scenario just for him.

It didn’t work. That’s victory. That’s Fred going head to head with the Church of Scientology and forcing them to back down.

I suspect that more Torture Tech is in the works. This silly legal complaint and costing Fred to lose his home were Rounds One and Two. Fred needs a team. A couple of people willing to accompany him on his photojournalistic safaris and to be handy and supportive about whatever McTinyfists comes up with next. Somebody needs to take on some of the stress so that Fred doesn’t have to bear the brunt of it all himself. An Anti-Tech Squadron.

            • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, Linda Clement. “Mc Tinyfists,” ain’t that name a hoot! The stress caused by scientology’s Golden Age of Torture Tech Phase II proved too much for me. Scientology is relentless and will stop at nothing to ruin critics civilly and/or criminally. Through a random photo taken shortly before the “Maiden Voyage 4” event on Sat., July 16, 2016, at PAC Base, I got proof (for myself, at least) that scientology would just keep chomping away at me, even after the “Dismissal” (they didn’t dismiss anything. The TRO put me out of circulation. It kept me (and fellow protesters, I’m sure) away from Maiden Voyage Events 1, 2, and 3. The next night, Sun., July 17, 2016, I got videotape proof, although from a slightly different angle, that scientology is a desperate cult willing to commit crimes against me, crimes against humanity, just to protect their bubble world.

To find myself 2,800 miles way from PAC Base is not an accident; the move gets me away from scientology’s tentacles. Now I can sit back and watch that evil cult self-destruct. I have a dozen or so more blogs to post of protests I did over the last two months or so, but I won’t be on the front lines. I will not play their game. I will not put myself in harm’s way; I won’t dance with the devil. David Miscavige, everything you are, everything you stand for, everything your quasi-religion represents is despicable.

            • Linda Clement

Fred, it’s great to hear from you! I’ve been a little worried at the long silence.

I don’t blame you a bit for preferring to stay off the front lines, and it doesn’t detract in the least from the wonderful body of work that you produced. We all know a lot more about how Scientology operates day to day because of you, and that is no small thing.

Take care, my friend. Our good wishes and our smiles are with you wherever you go.

            • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, Linda Clement. That silence worried me, too, what with scientology breathing down my neck. I’m glad to have helped through my Photojournalism courtesy JennyAtLAX. I’ll be happy to help, once more, when I get established. The Bunker is THE reason why I left the so-called church of scientology; I’m so glad to have been able to contribute to our cause.

            • Fred G. Haseney

In many respects, ithilie, your statement is true. The most important revelation, however, is just how evil and nasty scientology really is. They will be known for their actions.

          • Fred G. Haseney

Yes, the Dismissal is the key point, pluvo. Thank you.

            • pluvo

Hi Fred! Thanks for your reply. I’m happy for you that you found a home.
Where are you living now? – if you want to tell (?). I looked on the US map where it could be and thought East Coast or Florida because of the mileage. I don’t think that you have emigrated to Canada or Mexico :).
I appreciated your photo reporting which was very well done but thought/was worried that they had lined up further things for you. It’s probably better that you moved away from it all.
Have you ever thought about writing a book. Many did and you have – I guess – some time? Your writing style is good and maybe you could publish it as an e-book and write it as a memoir as I think that is easier legally. Just my thoughts – others would know better.

Always nice to hear from you. Wish you all the best and a good life! 🙂

            • Fred G. Haseney

I’ve returned near to where I attended high school: in Mexico, New York (one mile south of Texas, NY), on the Canadian border, so you were actually more right than wrong with my having emigrated to Canada.

It is much, much better that I left Los Angeles when I did, believe you me.

Actually, I’ve already authored a biography of late actor Jeff Chandler, that can be found in libraries. My pen name is “Jeff Wells.” Otherwise, an e-mail is a good thought. Thank you.

        • Fred G. Haseney

Again, Artoo45, I appreciate your comments. Your support is most welcome.

      • ithilien

Hes clearly been targeted for more trouble. Staying away from the scene of scis crimes might be good for him, but he has a right to be there and he has to follow his goals. As far as training for a vocational job, my gosh hes well past retirement age.

      • StudentOfLife

I met Fred at the Going Clear premiere and when he told me he had not been out that long,, I found him actually well spoken despite I could tell he was likely still in a fog if his story were true, but it also made me wonder if he was a plant from OSA given he was so friendly. I was going to invite him to sit with my wog friend when Angry Gay Pope came up and being only six weeks into discovering the Bunker I got scared by AGP’s potentially being followed as he’s not shy, lol. But I can tell you I remember Fred and his vigorous honesty now that I’ve read a lot more from him. He made a good first impression.

    • Roger Larsson

In the mid 80th I sat an org in Gothenburg, Sweden under pressure and the reg cried out to me that he wanted to go free.

      Scientologists want to be free.

    • Kay

I agree. If I remember correctly, there are people on this site who do know Fred IRL. They are the ones who are in the best position to help him, as is his lawyer. I sincerely hope he lands on his feet. If he needs help again for specific issues, I hope he comes here again to ask for it. Until then I will keep my fingers crossed for him.

      • Fred G. Haseney

        Thank you, Kay.

    • Fred G. Haseney

It’s only ten days after you posted your comments, Artoo45. I’ve finally been able to catch up a bit here at the Bunker. I’ve traveled a considerable distance where wi-fi is iffy, but I wanted to show my support for yours. Thank you.

The one, quite simple, thing that seems to always emerge from encounters like these are how, as an organization, Scientology is just extraordinarily mean spirited. I’m not saying all Scientologists but the ones who carry out the bidding of the leadership certainly appear to qualify. I’ve found that if there is not time or inclination to go into a long description of what they do, it’s easiest to simply say the church is extremely mean spirited and seems to enjoy doing harm to those they consider their enemies. Which is to say anyone they perceive as getting in their way, whether it’s valid or not.

    I just love Graham Berry!

On September 4th, 2008 there was a conference in Hamburg, Germany called “This is Scientology” (“Das ist Scientology”). The speakers were Jason Beghe, Marc Headley, Larry Brennan and Graham Berry.

After the Conference Anonymous did an interview with Graham Berry. I just discovered this interview and it was entertaining to watch:

(I’ll also include the 5 vids “lawyer Graham Berry talks about Scientology. This is during the Hamburg conference on Scientology.)

OMG I watched that talk Graham Berry gave in Germany on Youtube when I was kind of a newbie to things anti-scientology and still in free-fall down the rabbit hole. It made my hair stand on end and gave me nightmares. I thought (and still do), it was the most terrifying video I had ever seen about scientology.

  • stillgrace2

Let’s get dox on this resident that “took an instant dislike” for Fred and see if we can’t link this person to scientology. My gut says yes, there is a link. But as the saying goes: Dox or STFU.
(I’ll bet they will strike again. ) I plan to keep an eye on the situation. Good luck to Fred and keep your eyes up, Fred.
ETA: I’m talking about documenting possible scientology harassment schemes, just like the disconnection schemes that are finally getting some light. Sunlight disinfects.

It’s funny because it’s true. I spy on a lot of the 2nd gens on social media, and it struck me recently how often they hand off significant others to one another. • Qbird

Interesting POV. “trained” by LRH Tech ~ others share this opine.

Here’s what an OT VIII figured out over time & after spending a lot of money:

“I thought the OT VIII cognition was the end of the Bridge. It kinda made sense to me. The Clear cognition being that you mocked up your own reactive mind (or in layman’s terms, you swallowed all the shit about there being a reactive mind that has a negative effect on you and at long last you are seeing through the con and suspect there was never such a thing in the first place) and the OT VIII cognition that your case was all made up by body thetans and you were never that person that these body thetans were remembering as your past. So you end up at the top of the Bridge, now rid of the idea of the reactive mind and disabused of anything your body thetans ever told you. And at this top of the Bridge (after parting with a million dollars or more) you have reachieved the state of who and what you were before you ever walked through the door of a Dianetics centre or Org. To me, that is profound. If there are higher OT levels then the first cognition might be that Ron made it all up to give you more confidence in yourself. The second cognition might be that Ron conned you out of a shit-ton of money and the best years of your life, all the while laughing at what a shit-for-brains you were for falling for the con. The third cognition might be that the chances of getting your money back are zero so you should just slink out the door and keep quiet about it all.”

Thanks Ron. Whadda pal u was ~

The church didnt cave. They got him kicked out of his sheltered housing, and now he may have limited online access to post his anti sci blog. Why didnt fred or the attorney do a background check on the screamer, who is responsible for the eviction and make the sci connection evident (if it exists?) if they have ANY suspicion the screamer was a plant, they should have investigated.

I thought we’d established that she delivered this story as part of a Toastmaster’s event, where members give presentations and tell stories to practice their public speaking skills. I don’t think it was meant to be real. Either way, she has a terrible delivery.

      • you got more on this?

        • Tony did a whole story about it.

        • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

I know it’s come up here before, but I don’t remember exactly when. Try the comments on the You Tube vid itself.

Also, if you google a little about Toastmasters, you’ll get a sense of what they do. For example, one regular event that chapters host is a Tall Tales contest, where members compete against one another to tell the best made-up stories (usually humorous) in a believable way. In general, Toastmasters is all about engaging in public speaking exercises. storytelling, and communication. Makes sense that scientologists would gravitate to it. I believe the CoS has a chapter or a version of it called Renaissance Speakers: http://renaissancespeakers.org/about/

          • hmm… idk, in my time it was not unusual that some of these Otezz came around the Academy in the local org and told BS OTezz stories like that (for money/donations)… this might be different, but i tell you – they did just that and people where sucking it up like candy in a kindergarten! Oh dear Xenu–if the poor man can’t even turn pages how can he turn off whatever torture device is playing Hub’s crap nebula?

      • Mrs. V.

Perhaps that’s why he listens for three hours a day everyday. He can’t turn it off.

        • lynn

“can’t help but listen to it 3 hours a day”, I’d say he isn’t able to turn it off the same way he isn’t able to turn a page.

      • Kay

I loved your comment, also loved your use of language.

    • HillieOnTheBeach

Props to Amazon Customer for scoring in “there” own goal: spoils the book in the first sentence of its review.

    • BosonStark

At least this approach won’t fool anyone, apart from members of Scientology, who are easily deluded about such things anyway. Bogus Amazon reviews by nutty Scientologists won’t result in a forest of copies being pulped (from pulp to pulp) somewhere, like when it was first released.

There is one of two ways in which most people, myself included, would read the reviews on Amazon of a decades-old book. One is by reading another book by that author, liking it, and wanting to read other books by them. The likelihood of that is low with Hubbard’s books.

The other is by a seeing a good movie which is made out of a book, which makes me want to read the book, even if the book has a reputation for not being as good as the movie. So that’s all Scientology has to do to increase book sales for Battlefield Earth, make a good movie out of it. Making an atrocious movie isn’t going to work, and either is what they did in the past to game the best seller statistics.

I have a feeling that some brains at Bridge think that there’s a trend of comic books being made into blockbuster movies, and illustrated novels becoming slightly more popular, and therefore a resurgence of interest in Hubbard’s pulp crap is soon to follow. Good luck with that, Sciloontology.

    • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

I have to think that somebody at Amazon is kind of enjoying this.

For a brief moment, I had the idea that, maybe just maybe, somebody said, “This Fred is a decent guy, we should just let this go.” That is what a most tolerant compassionate being would do ~with humility.

I haven’t been able to bunker much this week — my business is having its biggest event of the year tomorrow and I’ve been swamped in preparations, but I wanted to use my 2000th comment on my 1-YEAR BUNKERVERSARY to pop in long enough to say thank you to Tony and to thank all of you. Lurking for years, the laughter and humanity I found here took me through the darkest and most challenging time in my family’s life and the majority of that hard time, the only laughter I found in a day, I found here. Here I found stories of hope and resilience and forgiveness that I took to heart and it helped me personally. I learned to question and demand and raise hell and speak up and it helped me to help my son. I can’t explain what this place means to me but I imagine for many, my explanation is unnecessary.

Tony, thank you for your stellar work and for hosting this amazing place. You are deserving of every professional accolade but I don’t know of any reward for putting up with all of our zaniness. I hope the Bunker is its own reward – it has been a very valuable place for me.

My best to Fred. I am very glad that nasty business is behind you and my best wishes that good things are ahead for you.

As always, love to the lurkers. 🙂

  • Commodore H. McCringleberry

I saw the word ‘limited’ before scholarship and it gave me the chills. Knowing the clams, the ‘limit’ consists of anything beyond the fact that they know a guy at Denny’s who can slap a senior discount on a meal as long as he doesn’t do it more than once a week. That, and they’ll make sure that this guy isn’t billed for air while in town, nor for water in a hotel, if he can afford one.

    • beauty for ashes

Isn’t it true that as Tony referred to you as Commodore McCringleberry, that you once were called simply Hingle Mccringleberry? And now you are a so called “commodore?” 😉

    • Liberated

    • Kay

O/T: Hey Commodore…I replied a couple of more times to your Martin Guitar thread last night, but it was much later on so you might have gone off to bed. Liked the pictures….that thing is in pristine condition. wow

      • Commodore H. McCringleberry

Yup. Not a scratch. We run into a lot of things that he bought and then forgot about. Most likely, he bought it, had someone put strings on it, then got busy with something and never thought about it again. He’d do the same thing with other projects- like he’d want to have a billiards room, so he bought the table and the accessories and furniture, then never put it in. The other idiosyncrasy we run into is where he would buy the same thing over and over and over. Definitely a fun time. He started filling up storage rooms in the late 70’s, so a 35 year head start and considering he never used so much of what he bought there’s untouched items that have been in there long enough to be called antiques.

We do give back, though. We have two charities that we had rent out the units across from us, and we fill them up with stuff they need. One is a neighborhood 2nd hand store that a bunch of different churches run together. The other is a group that provides sporting equipment to kids that can’t afford it. We’ve never given money directly, but we’ve filled that store with basically brand new stuff and we’ve fielded about 10 little league teams worth of bats and balls and gloves, etc.

Holy jeepers… possible military coup occurring in Turkey. Bridges in Ankara and instanbul blocked and tanks in the street . President Erdogan reportedly on holiday, so is not in the capital.

    • Liberated

I know, can things get anymore crazy? The hell with American politics all I can think about are those poor souls in France today.

    • I saw that. Crazy shit happening right now. Meanwhile in the US people are walking off bluffs while playing Pokemon Go.

    • flyonthewall

Some in the Turkish military hate the political leadership and Pres. Erdogan bc they’re seen as Islamists and who are undermining the secular state

      • gtsix

Yea, the military carries.on the tradition of the young turks. Crazy week.

    • Kay

I know…this is a BIG concern. I was in Turkey about five years ago and was really impressed with the country, and the fact that they had been a stable, secular democracy since the 1920’s. They provide a lot of stability to that region of the world, so this news just made my blood run cold. That is scary, not only for them, but for surrounding countries, particularly Jordan.

    • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

Shit. Erdogan has become problematic, but still…shit.

      • Kay

I agree…..he has been a concern to a lot of people, both inside and outside of his country, but I don’t think this is the answer. This also causes huge problems for the US military as they have a base there, plus Turkey is a part of NATO. The base may all have to bug out if there has indeed been a successful military coup. I really liked Turkey so much when I was there, and just loved the Turkish people…this is upsetting. I feel like the whole world is going nuts right now.

        • 5 Feet Long and Luminous

It does feel like everything’s gone arse-over-tit, doesn’t it? It’s unsettling.

        • gtsix

He has turned his ceremonial position into a kingdom… and his ties to ISIS are truly frightening. But a.coup has to have some political backing… and Erdogan really emasculated the military over the past 10 years, and has undercut the PM at every step, until his mate got the job.

When this is over (and he has defeated the coup and executed the leaders) he will be untouchable. The reichstag is burning again.

Trump, May, Erdogan and Putin. Imma gonna go have a drink now.

        • ze moo

Turkey has had several coups like this over the years. The NATO base has always been safe. Erdogan is openly facist and I do hope the military topples him. Turkey had a good thing going years ago and then the Kurds took them on. 30 years of terrorism can make you goofy.

They are Mexicans and they are VERY proud of the fact. Many work in the Plantation fields where they harvest the Palm trees that are shipped World Wide. Like you go to Brazil and you will see Our Palm trees.

The other respected population is the Fishermen.. OMG.. Hard working ( Hard Partying .. White boot wearing fisherman..) Work their asses off for a living and their family has been doing it for generations.

These are my favorite residents.. The workers on the island. I was raised with factory workers and farmers surrounding me.. I feel the most comfortable around workers.

Famous Authors, Artists, Musicians are dotted here and there because it is so isolated. You could be 30 minutes off the island and No one has heard of it. It is absolutely crazy. It is 100 years behind the time.

There is one stop sign and NO traffic light.. No high rises..

Snow Birds.. make it a nightmare during season , but they of course contribute to the economy.

Retirees with money ( Not us) who live on the waterfront and keep to themselves or their ” Boat Clubs.”
I can not relate at all.. and really have no desire too.. They have their own group..

We fall into the Retiree who was able to buy a foreclosed home. Mac wanted to fish.. and so we did our research. When the market tanked. Absolutely nothing fancy.. comparable to the rent of an average apartment in Ohio/ Michigan. We bought it sight unseen.

The biggest Whoop de Lou here was when a TV channel came on the Island and did this outstanding PR on us..hahahhaa.. OMG everyone was freaking out because they didn’t want anyone else to move here.. ha..

No fast food… wait.. There is a Subway.. but it is in a building that looks like it would be in Jamaica

It is NOT for everyone. If you get bored or lonely .. You can’t cut it. Mac’s brother came and said..
” Who would choose to live like this?” hahahhahahaha He needs more action than he can get here that’s for sure.

When I zip around on my bike.. I can go to the bridge and there may be 40-50 people fishing from the bridge drinking beer and you can hear the music and laughter. I enjoy honking at them as I pass by them at 3 am ..

So anyway.. after I posted my picture I thought.. Gawd I hope no one thinks I’m bragging.. because I’m not.. f5 https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7f11068af137f217d49f6dbf452ac2db2a222a6310da43c81f14c9e1941d6f6b.gif

      • Love this description and I would probably love to live here after I already clubbed a partner over the head and had them neatly tucked away in my closet. Otherwise, you’re probably right. I would get lonely.

        • Baby

Yeah.. I can’t see you here Derek.. There is a person that lives in one of the groves behind us for like 13 years now. The teenagers told me. He doesn’t have a tent or anything..

The kids are scared of him cause they said that he was like ” THE UNABOMBER..” HA..

Let me tell you. There is a Reason why people move/ live here.

My reason was my twin’s death and to run away from memories that haunted me daily.

( PS.. a Body was found very close to our home a couple of years ago.. ) a teacher.. Her hubby killed her and buried her here .. There is PLENTY of places to bury bodies around here.

          • Me, burying bodies. >.> I would never do such a thing.

It’s very beautiful, but I remember last spring when you were attacked with malice aforethought by a gang of rats. I was scared for you.

    • Mymy88

Hang in there Baby. This shall pass and the sooner the better. Wow, I’m so jealous that you live in such a magnificently beautiful place! I live in the middle of a forest with so many tall trees around I can only see a sunset when I leave the house and go up the road. That really bugs me. God almighty! No coke? I would flip out. Starving all the time, I would flip out. No caffeine, I would flip out, etc., not to mention the pain. I’ll be thinking about you and looking forward to you saying you feel better 🙂

    • MadisonAgain

I’m so sorry you’re having so much pain 😞. Steroids suck – in addition to making you hungry, they also can make you depressed. So, keep on eye on your mood. Lots of love to you!

    • MadisonAgain

Stupid disqus ate my first post to you. So, I’m trying again.

I’m sorry you’re in such pain. Steroids suck! In addition to making you hungry, they can also make you depressed so have Mr.Baby keep on eye on your mood. Sending love and healing thoughts your way. 😘

Oh, Baby, how beautiful. No wonder your paintings are so full of color. Thank you for sharing.

“Pascal Chukwuebuka Nwoga of Nigeria” I’m assuming he is not planning to attend otherwise he wouldn’t have posted the letter here. This is just modern day slave labor recruitment from Scientology, once he in NY his passport will be locked and lost, he wont be able to return to Nigeria, will be assigned a post at the church and there you are stuck. This is human trafficking in action right there.
“There are no scholarship available for airfare” I would be like what? they want a slave from Nigeria and they wont even pay for the airfare. Scientology want his cacke and eat it too. Yeah I would say FU to that letter and throw it in the trash Mr Pascal don’t go they will retain you against your will.

I wish this stand up comedian would mention $cientology in his shows. He is hilarious!
(He does mention Genesis and we all know who wrote the opening line of this book, that’s true.)

i know right. absolutely behind flabbergasting it leaves one speechless.. so once again, “is grant in on the con or like a celeb the stupidest person alive?”…

on a sidenote, i bet this guy couldn’t beat up a 10 year old! in fact, would hire someone to beat that 10 year old up, so he wouldn’t get his hands dirty or have to actually DO anything..

I really doubt that Cardone has a gun. He’s too afraid he’d shoot himself. And not just in the foot.

    • Rasha

Grant, it’s “loved ones”, not “loved one’s” in this context. Besides, I am still snortling at your perception of yourself as somehow able to supercede the military and police against “Islamic Terrorist” (apparently, there is only one.) I would love to see the list of “Terrorist” you spotted and protected all innocent civilians from on your way to work. I notice you did not include yourself in that category. You are a douche. We are safer without the likes of you.

Just sayin’. Just…. go. You keep your eye on Islamic Terrorist. Good boy. Great job!

I read “Grant Cardone was live” at the top, and — just for a moment — …. alas.

    • Hey! They have a sign one can read from the street. A bit of an upgrade 🙂

      • I was standing on the sidewalk just in front, it’s really not that large for across the street, plus it’s not at a good height for seeing from the same side of the street. If I didn’t know where to look, I doubt I would have naturally spotted it.

Youth for Human Rights will only “donate” for modest shared accommodations and no airfare, mandatory travel insurance, or visa costs? And yet what they want in return are photos of this pastor to use in YHRI PR.

    The letter should read:

    Dear Pastor,

YHRI is a cynical ploy by the reprobate and crazed American Scientology Cult to pretend we are humanitarian. We are not humanitarian at all and, in point of fact, hate and despise homo saps as they are all walking hypnotized zombies — and this includes you pastor.

Nevertheless and accordingly, we do stage phony conferences periodically wherein we pretend to be concerned with human rights. This is too funny given the fact that we enslave our fellow Scientologists in the RPF, lock them up in the Introspection Rundown, and our leader beats and abuses Sea Org slaves as he sees fit. We also finacially rape our own members and break up families, but we deny it all, and this is where you come in.

We wish to use you at our next phony YHRI PR event. It helps that you are Black and from Africa because it makes our phony event seem even more humanitarian and inclusive. Our Founder’s racism notwithstanding, we like to make our phony PR events seem racially balanced. We are a 99% White Cult, so, you know, we need some Asians, Blacks, Indians, etc. for window dressing.

If you can pay your way here, we can give you a bed in a crowded and cheap hotel room with some other stooges we plan on using. We will also feed you “basic meals.” You need to bring your own money if you wish to eat beyond “basic meals” where this means rice and beans.

If you agree to be cynically exploited by us to further our phony PR, please reply soonest.

    Regards,

    YHRI

  • Fred G. Haseney

My God, Tony Ortega, what a great job you’ve done! I couldn’t have asked for better coverage of the debacle my life has seemingly become in recent days and weeks. It’s 4:40 PM Pacific Time, and I finally got a copy of the Dismissal printed to be carried as proof when I return to PAC Base Saturday, July 16, 2016, for “Maiden Voyage 4,” the last of scientology’s “Maiden Voyage” events. I’ll need backup, however. If one person showed up, driving a car with the metallic “call me” signs attached, I’d be more than willing for my camera and to ride shotgun. Protesting on foot may need a backup of two people. Let me know here; let me know at Facebook. Either way, at 6 PM, Sat., July 16, 2016, I’ll be standing at Sunset Blvd. and L. Ron Hubbard Way. I’ll be on the sidewalk (the north side of the street), camera in hand. I won’t have any protesting signs because I had to ditch all of my protesting material when Hope Again kicked me out last Tuesday.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone, and I mean everyone. I hope that no one actually showed up for the court hearing this morning, since Graham helped engineer the Dismissal.

Thank you, Graham, for being with me every step of the way. Without your legal expertise, I don’t know where I’d be. Thank you, Tony, for your coverage. Your reporting is so spot-on, it’s as if I wrote the copy. Many thanks to those who have contributed to the Funded Justice Campaign; please accept my apologies for not thanking you all individually, but (a) I don’t have wi-fi readily available, and (b) I haven’t been able to figure out if I can do that through the FJ website. My thanks to Funded Justice, too. FJ made the campaign so painless to launch.

My apologies to anyone who has worried over me.

    • jazzlover

Hang in there Fred! NYers are resilient 🙂 Still unbelievable to me that a place called “Hope Again” would kick you to the curb at the drop of a hat. I’m sad for humanity.

      • Fred G. Haseney

Oh, do you mean “Hopeless Again”? Us New Yawkers bounce back in color!

        • jazzlover

LOL. You betcha 🙂 Look to a real church for help finding shelter. Check with any local Christian Church and explain your situation. I’m sure there’s no love lost, so mentioning scientology could only help. Just be prepared for the numerous eye rolls 🙂

          • Fred G. Haseney

Thanks, jazzlover. The library is closing for the evening; along with that goes my wi-fi connection.

            • jazzlover

Good luck! Be careful out there tomorrow.

          • Robert Eckert

Uhhh… Hope Again is run by a local Christian church.

            • jazzlover

Can’t be the right kind of Christian if they fell for a scientology ruse 🙂 Fred doesn’t necessarily have to live in a place run by a church. Charity knows about charity. The more people he speaks to, the more options he’ll become aware of. Certainly, depending on the state of California isn’t an option.

        • The Explorer Race

Resilient..that’s the word for you Fred! I well remember when I left the cult I was in, I had nothing & no one..it’s hard to re-establish yourself from a standing start! I only wish I lived around there..I would offer my spare room to you! Well, I guess you really know who your friends are now 😏 I wish you all the best in finding much better accommodation ✨🌟💫

          • Fred G. Haseney

            Thank you, The Explorer Race.

Sounds like you have well thought out plans. I hope your backup also has the ability to take video, just in case someone is harassing you. Wish I was there to help you, but am not.

We’ll plan accordingly with the resources, that’s for sure. Thanks, Elizabeth Lavet!

      • Fred G. Haseney

So good to see you comment – understand why you couldn’t. We were worried!!-but no need for apologies – just so glad it is behind you!! I hope a solution to your housing comes very soon. I think i can safely say for most everyone that the support you found here came from well deserved respect for you. Thank you for what you do, and for sharing it with us. I’m sorry for what you’ve had to go through lately.

      • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, TexasBroad. A solution for the housing came from a friend of mine some 2,800 miles away. The move gets me away from scientology because they’re relentless in their ruination of critics such as myself.

        • TexasBroad

I’m so happy for you Fred! Thank heavens for true friends 🙂 You have proven yourself to be one in your support of Phil and Willie and in the kindheartedness with which you have always displayed. Congratulations and the very best heartfelt wishes to you on your new beginning. I hope to still see you in the Bunker.

          • Fred G. Haseney

I live where even wi-fi can sometimes be sketchy. It’s a nice change, so I log on when I can. I sat by the campfire this evening, defending myself from mosquitoes while my friend’s dog couldn’t figure out why he and I weren’t playing ball for the umpteenth time.

If I had tried to do this after leaving the Sea Org some years back, the pull of that bubble would have been too strong for me and I would have returned to scientology and that way of life pronto. Even coming here 23 months after leaving scientology for good is a bit of a challenge. Why? Because all of this-campfires, insects, dogs-are all just a waste of time when you have a planet to Clear, for Xenu’s sake!

            • TexasBroad

There is a lot of life between “saving the planet” urgency and so-rural-no-WiFi. I am a such a big fan of Jennyatlax, and what I know of you through the internetz, I’m certain I would enjoy sitting around a campfire getting to know you in person. I send jennyatlax my admiration for amazing photojournalism….I send Fred Haseney my best wishes for the warmth of true friends, for opportunities that live up to the heart you have for them, and for karma to give back to you what you have paid in. You’ve lived a LOT of life lately…I also wish you rest and peace. (insane mosquitoes…are you near me?)

            • Fred G. Haseney

The warmth of your message is better than a fine cup of coffee at this early hour (7:30 AM). Thank to your blessings. Here’s to acres of opportunities as well as appropriate karma for the “kult” of scientology.

The mosquitoes in the forests north of Syracuse, New York, look and sound more dangerous than they actually are. I don’t tend to get bitten; perhaps it’s because I’m primarily a vegetarian.

    • TheMirrorThetan

Look after yourself, Fred. Hopefully you find better housing soon.

      • Fred G. Haseney

        Thank you, TheMirrorThetan.

Jeez Fred,mIna mgladnthe legal harassment has stopped, and you’ll be back on the beat. I wish I’m had known about your shit, because I would have gladly let you keep it in my storage locker downtown.

      Best of luck.

      • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, richelieu jr. Possessions can be replaced; friendships, courtesy the Bunker, can’t be replaced, that’s for sure.

    • Jenyfurrrrr

Fred – you rock for ALL you do! As someone who’s been through some tough times and had to do transitional housing w/2 amazing kids when we had to start over with NADA… It’s humbling, it’s tough, and there are SO many people who feel entitled, are difficult just because they’re unhappy, and want to knock people down who are real, open, humble and trying to move forward. Probably due to feeling convicted about their own sh$t. But you… You take work as it comes and spend the rest of your time fighting the evil that took away years and resources of your own for years. That’s takes a lot of character! Keep doing what you do and exposing it. SO happy for you and saying some serious prayers for provision and housing for you, friend! Be safe tomorrow!

      • Fred G. Haseney

Thank you, Jenyfurrrrr.. Your prayers have helped.

        • Jenyfurrrrr

Aw thank you! I hope so! Any luck with finding long term housing? I used to do some work for a church over in Watts for a church called Power House and a free dental ministry they have there. Let me know if I can reach out and see if they have any housing contacts. I just recently was able to find out the name of the newest pastor there, so I could offer to ask. Also they have a dentist who’s there twice a week who donates his time & services, if that need ever arises!

          • Fred G. Haseney

Well, I’ve relocated far, far away from Southern California and the tentacles of the so-call “church of scientology. If I ever change my mind about going back, I’ll let you know. Watts has sure changed over the years, ever since the Blue Line from train from Los Angeles to Long Beach helped breathe more life into that community.

            • Jenyfurrrrr

Oh wow Fred – Well you’ve always got a friend in Riverside and do keep in touch! I hope wherever you call home now, you’re very happy to be there and surrounded by people that make you feel welcome, at home & safe. Smiles & hugs plus I’ll definitely still keep you in my prayers!

            • Fred G. Haseney

I will stay in touch. I’m very happy to know I have in you as well as others a good friendship. Prayers — they work!

    • Wog

Fred – you are awesome. The squeaky wheel gets their kids back. Keep Squeaking!! Thank you for doing something about it!

      You are super!

      • Fred G. Haseney

        Thank you, Wog! I’ll keep-a-squeakin’!

    • Still_On_Your_Side

Fred, I look forward to your photo journalism reports, and I am delighted that the vile, frivolous charge against you has been dismissed. Unfortunately, since you are successful in your efforts, it is probable that scientology/Miscavige will try to hurt you again. Please never go there by yourself, and always make sure that you have a wingman who can photograph attempts to harrass you or set you up. You and the Joneses are clearly getting through to the members, it’s why the leadership tried to bench you. Keep up the good work!!

      • Fred G. Haseney

It isn’t the first time that I’ve heard that advice, that’s for sure. The church of scientology will certainly turn the screws again! Thank you, Still_On_Your_Side.

    • thetastic

Oh, Fred, we missed you! (Sorry so late, I was offline all weekend.) I’m so glad to hear about the dismissal, and thrilled to see you here again!

      • Fred G. Haseney

Hello, thetastic. It’s been a wild and woolly ride, that’s for sure. It’s taken this long to even answer comments from the Bunker, let alone email and Funded Justice contributions. I found life before the dismissal dismal indeed. Thank you for pulling for me.

I can’t freakin believe it, after last night’s horrific terrorist attack, there’s a real live coup happening as we speak. What in the world is going on?

    • jazzlover

If Trump wins, I’m movin’ to Cuba 😉

      • aegerprimo

        I’m voting for the independent.
We can have more than two choices.
        Just sayin;
        and so OFF Topic.

        • jazzlover

This election is as scant as it gets in recent memory. Where the heck are all the honorable, “make the world a better place” people hiding? Are we headed for a time when literally nobody wants to run for President?

          • aegerprimo

Ugh, JazzLover, discussion about this does not belong at the Underground Bunker. I REALLY REALLY REALLY try to stay On Topic. I think it important . Nuff said.

        • “I’m voting for the independent.”
That will be a vote for Donald Rump.
That’s how it is in this two party system.
I know I’ll get an argument about it, but if you don’t wan’t Donald Rump you must vote for Hillary.

          • aegerprimo

Shorpy! So OFF TOPIC, but independent choices are Jill Stein and Gary Johnson. A couple of choices. Just sayin’

            • Its about the math.
              Don’t waste your vote.
              This is PoliSci 101.

            • aegerprimo

And…. if I waste my vote?
Please explain Shorpy…. wasting a vote or not waisting a vote. What is the difference?

            • Poli Sci 101.
Don’t really have the time to explain the two party system.
And I really don’t want to have to worry about Donald Rump being president.
              There is a clear choice.
              Its not a close call.
It will be one or the other.
Did you enjoy George W. Bush’s presidency?

            • aegerprimo

              Ergs!
              Both Bush’s sucked.

            • At least Bush 1 had a brain.
Bush 2 came to power through a corrupt Supreme Court, and people not understanding the two party system.

            • redfisch

No matter how one might wish it otherwise, they are not choices. 9 out of 10 Americans don’t even know there is such a thing as a third party. Voting for Stein and Johnson has the same effect as not voting at all. As Shorpy said, if you don’t want Trump, you must vote for Clinton.

            • aegerprimo

Voting and having the effect of not not voting at alll…. I think that is what I will have to go with.

            • It that makes sense, I can’t find it.
Have no idea what you are saying.

            • aegerprimo

Most times I have no idea of what I’m saying either.

            • Not saying it is a learned skill.
              I’m still working on it.

            • I come from a country where a third party once rise up nearly made the mainstream. At one point the two established parties were so nervous, they told the electorate that a vote for the third party would be a wasted vote. That was the same year that same party enetered to a coilition governement as juniior partner.

Unless the system is utterly corrupt, if enough people vote for a third party they will have influence, and the electorate tends to tends to do this when everyone is dissilusioned with the existing choices.

Besides, if you don’t want either choice, what’s wrong with registering a protest by voting for neither of them? It’s not as if your sinngle vote is going to deteremine the result.

The notion that it’s obvious you are wasting your vote if you don’t vote for one of the dupololy only perpetuates a system that nobody wants.

            • aegerprimo

There is a third party choice on the ballot. One is the Libertarian party.

            • As you were, then. I suppose you need a choice that is at least sane.

I suppose the first action of a libertarian government would be to dissolve the government… unless they discovered that they liked power more than ideological purity – and that never happens… does it?

            • aegerprimo

              Ugh.

            • Thank you.
Republicans win when people don’t vote, or throw a vote away.

            • redfisch

Just ask anyone who voted for Nader.

            • They, like us all, defend their actions to the death.
And meanwhile we suffered through GWBush.
              And barely survived.
I wish people would just educate themselves.
In this particular election it is class warfare.
The classes, in this instance, being the informed, and the stupid.
Don’t let your life be run by morons.

            • scottmercer

Im in California so it made no difference that I voted for Nader.

            • coonellie

I seem to recall it hurting the Republicans when Perot ran as an independent.

I still believe that I should vote my conscience. It’s the only way I can look in the mirror. My vote is never a throw away vote.

Both candidates have no business in positions of authority. I agree that Trump is the worse of two evils, but that doesn’t mean Clinton should have a pass.

            • That’s a false equivalency.
One is not like the other.

            • Enturbulated Masterbator

Correct! One is terrible and the other is worse.

            • Robert Eckert

It is, actually, like the other. Voting for Perot was voting for Clinton. Despite doing better than most third-party candidates, he ended up carrying zero states, so the Perot voters might as well have stayed home.

            • scottmercer

Yes. One is impossible, the other one is merely unacceptable.

            • scottmercer

No they don’t. Clinton has a huge demographic advantage. If she blows that, it’s her fault, not mine. Throwing away a vote is voting for someone you don’t believe in because of some fear. And “Lesser of Two Evils” is still evil.

      • Liberated

My kid went to Cuba in 1997, school stuff. He brought back the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life. He also brought home several kinds of cigars, Monte Cristos, etc. but that was of no interest to me.
He said the Cuban people were so very nice and and the food was fantastic.
Just think what you could do selling Cuban coffee here in the US. There’s none of the additive crap they put in our coffee.

        • jazzlover

Yup. But it’s Cuba, and I was being hyperbolic. I could have just as easily said Bogota 🙂

          • Liberated

I thought you were serious, you makin fun of me again?

Coup in Turkey. Actually very glad you mentioned it. I don’t have TV, don’t listen to much radio, and it literally never showed up on my yahoo home page all day. When I saw your comment I googled it and was shocked. Immediately called a couple of friends to see if they knew more than the page I was reading. How scary looking to see the lanes blocked by the military trucks on one side and traffic backed up on the other.

    • Justmeteehee

It’s become unreal, how sad is it when the slaughter of 84 in Nice can’t even last a 24 hour news cycle without being bumped 😪

    • Robert Eckert

Erdogan’s son buys oil from ISIL and is believed to help them buy arms. Some say none of the people ISIL has smuggled in and out through Turkey could have made it except for corruption in the Erdogan regime. This coup has probably been planned since the Istanbul airport attack which exposed how dangerous playing footsie with the Islamists was to Turkey itself. The Nice attack and the Turkey coup are not directly related, but are part of the same larger picture.

  • Looks like they found the plane https://planefinder.net/

  • Even Ivanka Trump’s rabbi has pulled out of speaking at the convention.
But people still think Rump and Clinton are somehow equivalent.
(Hint: One doesn’t know how many Articles in the Constitution)

    • edge

With the number of people who pulled out of speaking at Trump’s convention it’s like even the GOP is silently telling Trump: Please Don, everyone’s on to you. Just admit this is all a joke.

What they’re really doing is handing over the majority to the supporters.
