Scientology’s day care from hell: The scandal the church managed to keep hidden — until now

DayCare1b
Written by Tony Ortega | Illustrations by Chad Essley

Ellen was driving back from an outing in San Diego with her daughter when she got the call. [“Ellen” is not her real name, but this account is exactly how she told it to us.]

It was Julian, an ethics officer at Scientology’s “org” in Los Angeles. Julian was one of the young “masters at arms” who enforce Scientology’s myriad rules and regulations. If you heard from him, it usually meant you were in some kind of trouble, Ellen knew.

“I need to see you right away,” he told her.

“No, tell me what it is now,” Ellen answered. If she was in trouble, she wanted to know right away.

“I can’t really get into it. You’re going to be getting a call from a police detective.”

Ellen frowned. Why would a Scientology ethics officer be telling her that she’d be getting a call from the police?

“Why is a detective going to call?” she asked.

“You’re probably also going to be getting a call from –,” Julian said, and then he named a woman we’re going to refer to as DayCare Mom.

“Something happened there,” Julian continued.

Ellen could do the math. She looked at her daughter, who was just seven, and she seemed all right. Ellen tried not to show how much she wanted to scream.

It had been two years since Ellen stopped sending her daughter to DayCareMom’s house, where she operated a business that catered to other Scientology families. Ellen had a bad feeling about the place then. And now her worst fears were coming true.

After she got home, she dropped off her daughter and drove to the org. She went to Julian’s office and asked him what was going on.

Julian asked her to wait as he brought in DayCare Mom. He also brought in a Scientology chaplain, and a man in a suit, who was introduced as an attorney for the the church. DayCare Mom then began speaking.

“My son was molesting the girls at the day care, for over a year. Your daughter was one of them. We’re just coming clean about it.”

Ellen sat stunned as DayCare Mom then went into a Scientology practice of giving “time, place, form, and event,” and methodically described what her son had done to each of the girls, and how many times.

“That was hard to hear,” Ellen says.

Julian then explained that DayCare Mom had revealed the crime during a sec check.

A “sec check” or “security check” is a brutal interrogation that all Scientologists must go through from time to time. The subject of a sec check is asked to hold the sensors of an E-meter — a crude electronic device which simply measures tiny fluctuations in skin galvanism, but to Scientologists the machine is a sophisticated tool which can detect if they’re lying. With their utter confidence in the E-meter’s ability to tell when they’re holding back information, Scientologists spill their guts under the tough questioning of ethics officers.

In this case, DayCare Mom had spent tens of thousands of dollars to go through something called “OT Eligibility” in preparation for starting the vaunted “Operating Thetan” Scientology levels. As Claire Headley explained to us during our survey of Scientology’s courses, Up the Bridge, a member isn’t allowed to start the OT levels (which themselves cost many thousands of dollars each) until passing “OT Preps” and “OT Eligibility,” which includes a sec check.

Scientologists can’t begin these high-level courses, Claire explained, without first going through an intense interrogation to find out if they have “evil intentions.”

During her sec check, convinced she couldn’t defeat the all-knowing E-meter, DayCare Mom had revealed the information she’d been holding back: That her teenage son was a predator, and for more than a year he had molested the girls other parents dropped off at her house.

Julian told Ellen that as soon as he heard about that confession, he told DayCare Mom that it was her responsibility to call the police. “I told her, you’re either going to report the crime or I will,” Julian claimed. But even though the crime had been reported, Ellen was told that the mothers were being asked to keep the matter within the church.

Ellen was told that if DayCare Son were charged (he was then 17 and still a juvenile), he’d be subject to psychiatric treatment and medication.

“We’re begging you not to press charges because he’ll be subject to psych evals. We want to avoid that,” the attorney said to her.

Daycare2

Scientologists are taught to regard psychiatry and its medications with a white-hot hate. The thought of DayCare Mom’s son on psych drugs in custody was worse, to these Scientologists, than doing nothing about a young man who had molested their daughters.

“Julian was very clever in the way he did this. He did make sure it was reported to police, but then he turned it over to the chaplain, like it was a church situation. And it was clear that he was the one making sure none of us filed charges or filed lawsuits,” she says.

“I told them there was no way in hell I was going to allow that.”

After that meeting, Ellen did hear from the police detective, who called her last out of all the parents involved. Ellen’s daughter had been at the day care the least, and hadn’t been victimized as much as some of the others.

The problem, the detective told her, was that none of the other parents wanted to press charges.

Ellen called each of them, and they told her it was against Scientology rules to prosecute a fellow Scientologist — not without permission from the “International Justice Chief,” a man named Mike Ellis who members almost never saw or heard from.

“The mothers were concerned that if they pressed charges, they would lose their own OT levels,” Ellen says.

What she means is that when the mothers, like DayCare Mom, also reached their “OT Eligibility” in order to go into the high-level courses, they would also be interrogated, and if they had sued or prosecuted a fellow Scientologist, they’d lose the right to spend tens of thousands of dollars per level to reach the top of Scientology’s spiritual attainment.

Ellen was infuriated. She said they didn’t need anyone’s permission to press charges. But the other mothers didn’t budge.

Each of them, and Ellen, had been instructed by Julian how to talk to the police detective to convince him that DayCare Son should not be prosecuted.

But Ellen didn’t go along with it. She not only helped the detective with his investigation, she personally rounded up the four other mothers and took them to meet with a prosecutor at the district attorney’s office.

“I actually got the other mothers to the DA’s office, and got the kids interviewed by the police detective, using the doll. But the mothers decided to let the church handle it,” she says.

With the limited cooperation they received, the DA’s office charged the young man with a crime that only resulted in a sentence of probation.

“I at least wanted him on the sex offender’s list, but we didn’t even get that,” Ellen says.

Ellen was so disgusted with how the affair had been handled, she decided to leave Scientology, after having grown up in a rather prominent church family. Once she did, her parents, who remained in the church, cut off all contact with her as they followed the Scientology policy of “disconnection.”

Ellen shared with us a lengthy document she wrote to her father, explaining her reasons for leaving Scientology. In the document, she tells her father that not only had DayCare Son escaped the punishment he really deserved, but that Scientology’s way of handling the manner had involved the young man spending time in the homes of his victims, doing a “liability formula.”

When Scientologists are considered to have committed a transgression of some kind, they can be assigned a “lower condition” to reflect their lack of status. “Liability” is one of the least severe lower conditions, and making up for it requires an involved program of contrition, including asking permission of others to rejoin the non-liable population. DayCare Son had reportedly spent time in the homes of his victims so he could accomplish this program, Ellen told her father.

When she found out about it, Ellen says she was shocked. “I thought sure the church was going to declare them all,” Ellen says, referring to Scientology’s practice of excommunicating members by “declaring” them “suppressive persons.”

“But the mom is still in the church, and so is the kid. They let them do the conditions to make up for the crime, and they’ve even let him babysit. That’s when I never went back,” Ellen says with disgust.

But there’s more to the story.

One of Ellen’s friends had also recently left the church. And at one point, Ellen was asked by her friend why she left the organization.

The friend was livid after learning about the incident, saying that publicizing it could cause Scientology major pain and might even “bring the church down.” The friend knew a major Scientology celebrity who had been having some doubts, and who became irate upon learning what had happened at the day care. The two of them got busy gathering information about the case. Each of them told Ellen that if she went public, they would pay for her to have an attorney and any other expenses she incurred.

The friend, meanwhile, has pressed reporters, trying to get them to do this story.

But the friend was told repeatedly that the detective wasn’t talking about the case when he was called by reporters, and there were no court documents because the perpetrator had been a juvenile at the time.

While Ellen was willing to talk, she didn’t want to be named, and the other parents weren’t interested in talking.

Scientology wanted it kept quiet and wanted it kept in-house, and they were successful.

Several years later, the friend and the Scientology celebrity are still fuming that the church was able to keep a lid on the incident, and that DayCare Mom and her son are still active members.

DayCare Son is now in his mid 20s. When we called him last week, he told us he didn’t know what we were talking about when we told him we were going to write a story about the day care incident. We explained that we had no interest in naming him, and were more concerned with how the Church of Scientology had handled the matter. But he continued to say he didn’t understand what we were referring to. We thanked him and ended the call.

Ellen, meanwhile, says that despite the backing she received from the Scientology celebrity, she felt unsure about making the story well known. “It’s a delicate thing,” she told us. “My daughter is a teenager now, and she doesn’t really remember it.”

She received another round of encouragement from her friend to do this story, and then reluctantly agreed to talk about it.

“Unfortunately, this story is all too typical. It is not, by far, the only instance of sexual abuse of children in Scientology that has not previously seen the light of day,” says former Scientology spokesman, Mike Rinder, who knows Ellen well and is familiar with the underlying facts in the case. “While Julian played on the fear of psychiatry, this isn’t always a factor in these cases. But there are two fears that are always overriding concerns: 1. The terror of negative press and bad PR that such circumstances would generate and 2. The hatred and fear instilled into all Scientologists of ‘wog justice.’

“The only reason these people are not declared is the fear the church has that it might somehow prompt the perpetrators to come clean and spill the beans about how it was covered up by the church. After all, if there is any application of Scientology ‘SP and disconnection tech’ that would ever be applicable, it is for a child sex abuser. Scientology routinely offers up the example of an abusive spouse to justify application of SP/disconnection tech. The implied message is that even a moron would understand that you should disconnect from such a person and they should be made known to warn others. Yet, here we are, another example where the SP Declare and Disconnection policy should be used and it is ignored. Meanwhile, Scientology forced Ellen’s parents to disconnect from her because the crime of no longer choosing to call yourself a Scientologist is so much worse than molesting children.”

Links of note

An interesting story hit the WPTV Channel 5 website at midnight last night. It’s about a Boynton Beach alternative medicine doctor, Brian Sheen, who has filed a civil rights complaint with the state of Florida, alleging that his civil rights have been denied by the Church of Scientology.

Sheen says that his daughter, a Scientologist, has “disconnected” from him because he’s been declared a suppressive person by the church. In a website he put up about the matter, he indicated that he himself left Scientology some 35 years ago, and had tried to do so in a manner that left him in good standing with the church. But recently he received a letter from the church telling him his only way of contacting his daughter was through the International Justice Chief, Mike Ellis.

We’ve emailed Sheen to see if we can get more information on this story, which at this point is short on details. We’d like to see the letter he received, as well as his complaint. According to the story at WPTV, Sheen made his civil rights complaint to the state, which one of our legal experts points out means it may have been submitted to an office run by Attorney General Pam Bondi, which is a little ironic.

It’s been a tough day in the Bunker today. Much has been said about cults and child sexual molestation and how pedophiles get protection in cults. While this particular crime is not limited to cults and is found in every single strata of society, it is in cults in particular that the crime gets covered up, and the abuser is afforded protection. Child sexual abuse is notoriously difficult to prosecute due to the age of children who are deeply traumatised and often unable or unwilling to put into words what happened to them.

What is good, is that this is getting more exposure and that helps children to see that they are not the only ones this is happening to. A molester will always try to isolate his victims by making them feel guilty about what happened. Threats are very common, and often the threats are not limited to threats against the child should they tell, but also against the child’s family. It is an extremely violent crime IMO, and ranks up there with murder.

People are being prosecuted for molestation that occurred many years ago now. Courts, I think, are taking into account how hard it is for children to talk about this. Unfortunately, so much damage is done to the lives of the victims in the interim. New solutions need to be found for this. It is an age old problem that does not have a good enough solution yet.

So called religions that help to cover this up, are especially heinous as they are supposed to be safe harbours – they must be exposed at every opportunity. Thank you, Tony, for exposing this story. I encourage others who have first hand knowledge of these crimes in Scientology, to let Tony have the stories. They will be in safe hands there, and he will do what is right with them.

    Good night all xx

Well said, Draco. Good-nite and sleep well.

To anyone lurking still in the Church of Scientology:
What happens when you find out the entheta is true?

    • Todd Tomorrow

Well, Rita I have some great news! Somebody came to this very site during the end of their 37 year involvement in the COS and decided to leave. Google led them to this sight. I don’t think it has been easy but it makes me proud to be a Bunkerite! Fuck Yeah!

      • MrsLurksALot

That warms my heart. Thank you.

        • Todd Tomorrow

It makes me jump for joy, plus I made a new friend out of the deal!

      • Allie

Great news, Todd. Thanks for sharing this. Gives up hope.

        • Todd Tomorrow

Yeah, it truly is awesome. When Rita put that question up I had to answer. Dedemidating our entheta works!

Glad your bubble burst Todd, glad you are here.

        • Todd Tomorrow

It isn’t me who left. It was somebody who found, The Bunker on Google and started lurking and reading the entheta. I’ve become friends with him.

          • SarahDB

Ah, read that wrong. Welcome to your friend, Todd, with open arms. So glad he is here.

Wow…this is great to hear. How long were you “lurking” here till you started to comment, TT?

Incidentally , I have heard of male auditors who in session have girls between say fourteen to seventeen admit to being attracted to them and fantasizing and then the auditor has sex with the girl .

I knew one who was a trainee at Flag who was sent to become a grad V back in the 1980s and at the beginning of his trainng he messed up then he was made an HDA book one auditor which takes much less time and he of course got a pretty teenage girl as a pc and slept with her . Her parents were furious , but they got convinved to not tell the police of course and since the org was desperate for auditors the whole thing was hushed up .

The Mace-Kingsley photo and caption are so disturbing for those who understand what’s happening to those children. They’re being indoctrinated to cult control from such a young age, it will be extremely painful for them to enter the real world some day. If they every can. In addition, Mace-Kingsley founded by Debbie Mace and Carol Kingsley, senior Scientologists, was a feeder school for the Mace Kingsley Ranch in Palmdale, California in the late ’80s and early ’90s where “misbehaving” Scientology children suffered serious abuse. Senior cult members sent their children there as they were “distracting” to the parent’s holy mission. Regular physical beatings were one of the “services” given to the children who were inmates there.

Sometimes, however, the details of the disciplinary action are removed and the lawyer’s record will then appear squeaky clean. I remember you sharing some of this information previously. Just want to add a note. If people think abuse of boys is “not as bad” as abuse of girls, they’ve got another thing coming. It makes me so sad to be reminded of how many kids have been subject to sex abuse. Not just in COS, but elsewhere to. But for a so-called “churc” to compound the abuse with betrayal by a parent (the other mom’s in the post), or cutting off the child from a supportive parent (Karen)…it’s just unspeakable evil.

There is an interesting parallel in a case at a Catholic church a few years ago. There was a priest molesting little boys (dozens) at a parish in the midwest. Parents found out and complained to church leadership repeatedly, to no avail. A more careful, deeper investigation revealed that the Deacon or Cardinal they were complaining to molested little boys years before when HE was a priest. So what else is new……..?

    • Supper Powers

Well then it’s OK. Never mind everybody, the Catholics do it, too. Back to work.

    • Alice Graves

Alex Gibney’s documentary, Mea Maxima Culpa – Silence in the House of God, focused on Father Lawrence Murphy, who molested kids for decades in his parish in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Watch it. The cover-up went all the way up to cardinals and the Pope. After watching this doc, it takes a lot of strength to keep operating with the belief that something can be done, but of course every one of us has to keep going because the critical mass of truth about this type of abuse will reach a tipping point, just as it will with scientology.

      • Allie

Another excellent docu by Gibney. I have so much respect for him in tackling some of the most controversial subjects. His style is so forthright and the photography and interviews are excellent. The victims were strong and determined. This is another reason why I must be involved.

      • Eclipse-girl

i met some of the deaf men who were victims.
        They are courageous and tenacious.

  • Snake Plissken

The First Amendment of the Constitution was intended to give people the freedom from religion so atrocities like the Salem Witch trials never happened again, how did it get so twisted that it is now used to shelter child rapists and sexual predators?

  • Jimmy3

Mace-Kingsley kids, please listen to the pretty lady:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUf1YxvfN3o#t=25s

    • flyonthewall

      have you seen this yet?

      • Jimmy3

Hell yeah. I loved it. I was grinning like a little kid the entire time.

        • flyonthewall

*High five* That’s what I’m sayin! I thought it was just as good as, maybe better than the original. It was corny at times with the trained raptors but everything else more than made up for it.

I saw Inside Out the other day and cried like a woman who got kicked in the balls. Like loud sobbing crying, it was bad. Such a good movie. Scientologists should see it and learn a little something about how the brain works, it was seriously educational too.

ETA – My kids made fun of me for crying btw

          • The Dude

How does a woman get kicked in the balls? Unless you are Caitlyn Jenner, I guess. Sorry….

            • flyonthewall

It’s a figure of speech, everyone says it. Shouldn’t you be practicing your Capoeira or something?

            • The Dude

Working. So friggin boring here in the summer time. Counting my days till I can leave this place for a while.

          • Jimmy3

I wouldn’t say it’s as good as the original masterpiece, but it brought back a lot of the magic that Jurassic Park had. Nostalgic enough to make me feel like a kid again. And I agree, the raptor scenes kinda bothered me, but all in all it was fricken awesome.

            • flyonthewall

The allusions to the original were very well done. I will never look at Pterodactyls the same again. Who knew they were such mean sob’s? I was kinda surprised they amped up the blood and cuss words, guess they’re going for the young adult crowd now.

            • The Dude

I noticed that Jake Gyllenhaal was the fat kid in the beginning of the 1st movie that calls a raptor a 6 foot turkey.

            • Jimmy3

Lol. That’s not true. But people were speculating that that kid’s character grows up to become Chris Pratt’s character in JW. The actor who played the kid even tweeted about it.

            • The Dude

You are right . I stand corrected.

            • Always Amazed

I would rank it 2nd. It was great

            • Jimmy3

Easily #2. Lost World isn’t good, but it’s not unwatchable. It’s definitely worth a watch. (The book is definitely worth a read.) The third movie was pointless and a complete mess.

Although I do love how Dr. Grant tells the students something about how there’s nothing on hell or earth that would get him back on those islands, and in the next scene William H. Macy is like, “Hey, i’ll give you some money to go back there.” And Dr. Grant is like, “Oh, okay, sure.”

            • flyonthewall

Yeah that was funny. I couldn’t even make it longer than 45min into the 2nd one though. They spent like 20min on the stupid trailer being pushed over the cliff edge for Pete’s sake!

            • flyonthewall

Well the original has the unfair advantage of having the nostalgia factor working for it. If they were both new and you saw them back to back, I bet a lot of people would say the new one is better

          • EmmaDaoust

I wept at the end of E.T. those many years ago. My little nieces laughed at me.

            • flyonthewall

F those b^%$s! How can you not cry at the end of ET? We just watched that a few wks ago actually. Did they see the original unedited version when the cops hold guns or the wimpy new version when they hold walkie talkies?

            • EmmaDaoust

Oh heavens, I didn’t know there were different versions. The kids had already seen it in theatre, we were watching it on video at home. I had never seen it and got pretty choked up. The girls said “Oh look, Emma’s crying!” They were maybe 6 and 9 years old.

            • Jimmy3

It’s okay. Every time Mufasa dies in the Lion King, you might hear, “Jimmy’s crying again…” It’s really only embarrassing when the Lion King isn’t even playing, and I’m crying just picturing it in my head.

            • The Dude

I cry at different times every time I watch Forrest Gump. 1st time I saw it and cried was when Bubba died. 2nd time I saw it and cried as soon as Bubba got on to the army bus. Because I knew he was going to die. I cannot watch that movie without tissues. My Wife makes fun of me!
“Billion Dollar Baby”. I cried for a couple of days over that one.
Bawled my eyes out at the end of “Grand Torino”.

            • EmmaDaoust

I couldn’t watch that movie. I cry when I hear Elton John’s song.

            • flyonthewall

Awww. Yeah there are different versions. For some reason people like Spielberg and Lucas feel the need to mess up perfectly good movies from time to time.

In the original ending when ET and Elliot fly over the cops, the cops are holding guns. In the new version they are holding walkie talkies

      • The Dude

Just watched all 4 in a week with little dude he had never seen any of them. Big grin on my face the whole time.

        • flyonthewall

You know I just can’t get into the sequels and I tried. I’m sure Little Dude loved them, can’t go wrong with dinosaurs. You show him Land Before Time Yet? My youngest girl was obsessed with it for a long time

          • The Dude

Oh yeah. Long time ago. I had never seen any of the sequels either. But they were fun to watch with him.

    • flyonthewall

Oh hey I wanted to show you this Lego brick from the series they made based on the new movie. Amber encased mosquito! Freakin’ awesome right!? The mosquito is printed too, not a sticker

      • Jimmy3

Hah! That is great. And BD Wong with the turtleneck, too.

        • flyonthewall

the lego stores cannot keep these sets on the shelf, even the website is constantly sold out of them. Quite the hot ticket

          • Jimmy3

Sometimes I think about having a kid just as an excuse to get back into Legos. Is that bad?

            • flyonthewall

I think it’s the best idea you’ve ever had

            • Lol <3

  • EnthralledObserver

Getting pretty tired of this not naming the scum that lurks in $cientology… name and shame, I say, right down to the other mothers who were complicit in covering up these disgusting injustices.

    • SP Wogsy

      ^^^^

    • The Dude

I’m with you. Public humiliation and incarceration is the only thing that scumbag deserves.
      .

    • Cosmo Pidgeon

Tony very well may have not got the story if he did not promise to keep the names out. Trust is everything in a position like his. Otherwise people won’t come forward.

      • EnthralledObserver

Yeah, wasn’t a dig at Tony… but at the whole $ci-dob culture. Only certain names are typically dropped (i.e Davey Makemerich) – all the other smaller sinful fish seem to get passed over for various reasons quite frequently. I want to hear from these mothers on how they justify themselves and their decisions!

  • Chee Chalker

Clearly this Day Care fiasco was the result of a rogue group of Scientologists……I’m going to notify the group (within Co$) who can handle.this….the Citizens Commission on Human Rights…..let’s see, that would be Jan Eastgate……surely she will be.able to handle this serious issue of child molestation……….wait a tic……

    Never mind

    • EnthralledObserver

      Bulls eye.

    • chukicita

      ^^^^^^^^dingdingdingdingding

  • EmmaDaoust

In Canada, there is a duty to report suspected/child abuse, and there is no statute of limitations. I don’t know U.S. law, but I gather it’s similar.

    http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/pubs/ccaps-spcca/chi-enf-eng.htm

    • EnthralledObserver

      Ditto for Australia.

      • FollowTheMoney

Not only mandated, but I heard of some new laws in Australia that make it a criminal offence for adults in a position of authority over children not to report abuse if they know about it.

        • EnthralledObserver

I’m not an expert on this, but yes, I thought it was something like that too. And covering it up makes your just as culpable I thought too…. per Jan Eastgate, even though she got away with it.

          • FollowTheMoney

Totally sickened me that she got away with that. Can’t remember why.

            • ze moo

              A statute of limitations problem.

    • EmmaDaoust
      • EmmaDaoust

The abuse and all of the disgusting criminal behaviour in Co$ is down to 3 things: the internal prison of belief built in to each member of the cult, the huge $ war chest, and lawyers.

        • Kestrel

          Yes.

  • chukicita

This is the best example of how the evil is built right in to Scientology.

There are in this thread alone a number of stories that align way too much with today’s Bunker post. Scientology *cannot* respond any other way to this situation because their skripture will not allow it. They MUST follow L Ron Hubbard’s dictates on how to deal with a “Hill 10” situation wherein Scientology may not keep working. These dictates continue to be enforced by church leadership, aka slappypants.

EDIT: How long will Scientology, Inc. be able to play the ‘social betterment/religion/nonprofit’ card in order to run like a tank over federal, state and local laws?

  • FollowTheMoney

I think that just like in the Catholic Church, nothing will happen unless victims of child sexual abuse, many of them, start coming forward and naming names. The evidence will all be supplied by the Scientologys files. The Laura de Crescenzo case set a precedent in that PC files can’t be considered confessionals given the high numbers of people who access them (in her case over two hundred).

  • Tony Ortega

OMG. I just interviewed Brian Sheen for an hour. His story is SOOOOOO much better than those crappy stories you’ve seen so far. Dammit, and I’m traveling at the crack of dawn. I deserve combat pay for writing this up tonight!

    • SP Wogsy

I want to be like Tony Ortega when I grow up : )

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

His story was on ABC Action News (Local – Central florida area) about a half hour ago. Video not up on their site yet. Beware the Sea Org sleep schedule – if your cats really do start typing for you, take it as a sign for immediate, urgent napping required.

              Could be.

            • Jimmy3

One of them is named TomTom. Which I thought was funny, because I imagine that is the cat that tells

            • Sherbet

Ha! I just figured that out. I’m slow.

This is exactly the sort of “break-through” story which might generate the sufficient level of public outrage required to bestir the politicians and the authorities into finally getting off their fat arses and deal once and for all to Scientology. Bring it on home, Tony.

The Diminutive Micromanager is currently ghostwriting Karin Puow’s ‘spluttering indignation’ reply as we speak!

… and possibly cracking open his third bottle of Macallan of the night! (think Tony needs to be upgraded from cottage industry to streamlined Co$ bad news production line!)

and he’s swearing uncontrollably and reaching for another bottle of Scotch and

The one with the usual “we don’t know them, we’ve never been there, we don’t do that anymore and so forth and morever”. I’m sure DM has it typed out so they can send it out at a moment’s notice. They’re getting so many attacks that he can’t be bothered to write a new response each time.

In the Mace-Kingsley day care photo, the toys on the shelves seem to be from another time.

    • SarahDB

Yes, they look old and worn 🙁

    • TheHoleDoesNotExist

Most of the long term exec/management staff there are former Sea Org, one or two former GO. Toys most likely from customers, instead of throwing away. Looks like the sci front groups are on the front lines these days, hiding the scientology. Tamari Keith former staff in Orange County, boasts on her FB she got her field auditor “license” (like that means anything) via I Help. Surprised that front group is still around. So she’s a travelling auditor.

Her husband runs an insurance company in L.A. – and formerly with Sterling (Tamari used to work with one of the sci? dentist groups). And look – he also worked at Survival Insurance. Wonder if he knows Acunto’s current “status”? This is a microscopic peek at what scientology circling the drain looks like. Same few, same groups, same scams, inside and outside. I’m not even going to think about Denise and Vermont. I still haven’t taken her number off my phone contacts. As far as that vile Mace Kingsley abomination, sooner or later the customers realize that old saying, “Kids say the darndest things”.

Just needed to change my mood a bit after reading this and hanging out in the comments. Here is a nice confront and shatter by some nice SPs, including one of my favorite Bunkerites at St. Hill Manor.(refresh) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2dHTBXSITs

    • Stephanie Loving

The absolutely GREAT SPs of England … John is a shining freaking light of confront.

I admire their courage. So much for those fabled OT powers to confront and shatter.

          • Sherbet

Does anyone know if there was any charges filed, on either groups, as a result of this? I’m unfamiliar with UK law.

Also, this is probably a dumb question, but to clarify…DM was there as there was some type of event occurring that day? Anyone know what event.

      • Robert Hammond

All this happened last year, before I was really looking deeply at this, but I don’t believe so. I just listened to our own dear @i_Betty:disqus give this great debriefing with Pete Griffith. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOiCXUsKAt4

“You look miserable. Where do I sign up for that? Every single Scientology course I think.”

Loved every minute of this. Special commendation to each of these dauntless and defiant protestors. Just hope the older man in the ball cap who kept falling asleep while standing has escaped serfdom by now. One question: since the exes here so generously shared many important EPs with the security team (e.g. for clear, for OT 3, for OT 8, etc.), will each of the sea orgers present be required to do some kind of sec check or special auditing because they heard that and now know about Xenu and the BTs?

  • Mockingbird

The interesting thing is once you turn a blind eye it becomes easier next time . Say you find out an adult auditor slept with an adult pc or two . You cover it up for the cult . Okay , you do that a half dozen times then a twenty year old auditor sleeps with a seventeen year old. You feel conflicted but cover it up . Say that happens a few more times and now a twenty year old auditor sleeps with a fourteen year old – you think you are in too deep and have no way out . Maybe this is part of why OSA staff often never leave . An interestung and tragic descent into evil. Some bridge .

    NOI members practicing Scientology… it’s a cult within a cult… it’s CULTCEPTION!

    • Snake Plissken

It’s the square root of stupid, if they join one more cult, their brains will register a divide by zero error.

          • jeff

            exactly!

    • Robert Hammond

Cultists who hate Jews and white people learning from Hubbard, who hated people of color, women, and gays. What could possibly go wrong?

Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam teaches that the “white man” was created in a test tube by the evil scientist Yakub. They consider white people to be “the devil.” Joining with Scientology’s electrified hypnosis space alien cult just multiplies the madness.

      • Supper Powers

That first sentence was my laugh out loud moment of the day.

      • Snake Plissken

I hate everybody, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to hate myself … Scientology can help you with that

      • Robert Hammond

Impressed with how much conflicting brainwashing messages people can take at the same time. Worshipping Allah and L Ron Hubbard at the same time, while hating white people and loving the white racist Hubbard.

        • Kestrel

Perhaps money and power is the answer.

          • Robert Hammond

Yes. Farrakhan gets a cut of all enrollments. NOI promotes Scientology courses and Scientology gives NOI venues to promote their joint anti-vaccine campaigns. Like Hitler and Stalin joining forces to gain power with their individual groups. Ultimately, it’s all about the money.

            • Kestrel

Yes. Ultimately, it is all about the money.

  • Kay

    Two comments:
First: Like everyone else here I am appalled by the child abuse cover up. I am upset for both for the child victims, and the juvenile offender who probably never got any real help to deal with his behavior. (That was a HUGE window of opportunity lost, since many juvenile offenders have been perpetrated on themselves and can be helped to understand and change their behavior through intensive therapy)
Second: Does the Nation of Islam realize that if they fully embrace Scientology they will no longer be able to be practicing Muslims or to believe in Mohammed or the Koran? I guess no one thought to tell them that? Wow.

    • flyonthewall

They weren’t real Muslims to begin with. Their beliefs violate the most basic tenets of Islam.

      • Kay

Hmmmmm……well if that’s true, then this is really scary as Cos has a whole new army. yikes.

    • Sherbet

That’s a subject I haven’t explored nearly enough, Kay. Good question. What’s NOI’s goal here?

      • Kay

I don’t know but I assume that there has been a BIG carrot extended to them on behalf of the CoS. (maybe financial incentives?)

      • $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

        • Kay

          yup

        • Sherbet

How could they possibly think DM is going to share?

          • Kay

He has probably already lied to them.

            • Sherbet

I can see what scientology wants with NOI — a connection with some untapped resources, as their paying membership dwindles.

            • Kay

              Good point.

            • Kestrel

I was thinking along the lines of a new Sea Org. The CoS needs worker bees.

            • Sherbet

That, too. Good idea, Kestrel. They take the disenfranchised and feed them lies that they, too, can have power and be in control of the planet.

            • Kestrel

Yup. The promise of power, and I think the influx of foreign workers will dwindle. What to replace them with?

            • Sherbet

I was thinking the same thing after you mentioned worker bees. What a nuisance to bring Russians to Clearwater, when there’s some new blood right here in the US… This may be sexist, but I look at that room full of women, and I wonder if they share the same cultural interest as the men of NOI. Is there sex equality in Islam, rather, what passes for Islam within the NOI? Do NOI women want the same thing the men want? I don’t know the answers, and I think I need to explore more.

            • Kestrel

This may be sexist, but I look at that room full of women, and I wonder if women want the same thing the men want? I don’t know the answers, and I think I need to explore more. It’s like we’re almost on the same wave length, Sherbet.

            • Sherbet

How did we get into each other’s heads? It’s Freaky Friday.

          • The same way the think they’re muslim?

            • Kay

That’s funny. At least they are muslim enough to be wearing headscarves and berkas as seen in that picture, so how is that going to work with PURIF? Headscarves and head to toe clothing in the saunas? Truly? Plus, they would have to have segregated facilities so as not to have the women with the men, in or out of the Sauna. hmmmm.

I’m sorry, but kiddy predators need a different kind of help. Help picking their teeth up off the floor, for example.

      • anoni81b4u

Bullshit, you let them pick up their own teeth, then you kick them in the ribs when they bend over!

        • Jimmy3

I didn’t say I would help them, just that they should need that kind of help.

          • anoni81b4u

I apologize, I did not mean to offend 🙂

      • Kay

Yes I know how you feel. However, when an offender is a juvenile, there is a chance to turn it around particularly if they have been abused and have never received help. However, if you don’t get them when they are kids and they pass into adulthood, all bets are off. I did have juvenile sex offenders as patients, and know of some amazing turn-arounds where they have changed and become good members of society and have maintained that for many years. (remember, most of these juvenile offenders have been sexually abused themselves..that’s all learned behavior) BUT they have to take responsibility for their actions, really try to turn their lives around and make amends, if not to the victims, to society and understand why they are behaving that way. I think if you are a juvenile, you deserve a chance to change. It’s a difficult thing, and it’s really challenging to work with them. Now, as far as adult pedophiles…well there is no hell hot enough for them in my book. The kid in this situation was enabled in his behavior by the CoS and is now an adult. That is chilling.

        • Supper Powers

There is a compelling documentary called Kid Criminals about this jailing young sex offenders. I won’t link it here, but suffice to say, it’s a complex issue not being addressed very well by any institution. (And the CoS cannot nor should it be dealing with the legal aspects of it at all.)

          • Kay

I agree !!!!!! It is SO complicated, and no one group has a good answer. Many think they should be jailed but the literature shows that doesn’t help as much as intensive therapy. The CoS should not be having ANYTHING to do with this, it is a tough, tough issue that needs to be handled by the courts, the justice system, and psychiatric professionals.

            • Yup and not have any of those groups cut out of the process

            • Kay

              Yes, I agree totally.

        • Jimmy3

I understand what you’re saying, but a 17 year old is only arbitrarily a ‘juvenile’. Your sexual preference is well established by 17. And if you’re into daycare kids at 17, you’re going to be into daycare kids at 27. And at 47. And at 67. And so on.

Treatment and therapy could certainly help to control how they behave, but it won’t negate the way they feel about little kids. It’s sickening. People that do this can never be rehabilitated to the point where you can leave them alone with a child. Ever.

          • Kay

Sorry I meant to reply to you above, and replied to myself …..oops

          • Kay

BTW not all juvenile sex offenders are equal. Some that are truly antisocial predators who are going to end up in the adult system. There is a difference between the antisocial predators and the predators who have been victims of abuse. When we were working with kids who we thought were not going to be able to be helped by therapy, residential treatment, etc. we would alert the presiding Judge over that case to express our concerns. Those type of kids are identified by the system as dangerous, because they are, and are probably the ones that you would feel like knocking the teeth out of. However they were IN the system so that everyone could have eyes on them and assess them for future risk, unlike the kid in Tony’s article. I will shut up now.

        • Kay

Well, again…I understand your point of view. I had a really hard time learning to work with juvenile sex offenders, (gave me the willies) and it took a few years before I felt that I had some kind of grasp on the situation and greater understanding about early intervention. I do NOT think they should have access to other children once they have offended, and if they are put through the legal system, the legal system will absolutely forbid them from being around children at all. That’s why a lot of them are in restricted residential treatment where they are closely watched. The fact that this kid was allowed to perp on other kids for YEARS unchecked is a heinous thing. If he had been caught early on and put into residential treatment before he got older (i.e. 17) other victims might have been avoided.

      • flyonthewall

did you ever see The Woodsman? Kevin Bacon flick. He’s a convicted child molester and they actually try to make him a sort of sympathetic character. Not saying he is or isn’t but that’s the intent. Really good movie.

      • Rasha

        …after I help in putting them there…

      • ze moo

Many child molesters were themselves molested. It is something of a self perpetuating cycle.

        • Jimmy3

I know enough people who have broken a cycle of abuse that I can’t feel sorry for those who don’t.

          • ze moo

Proper psychiatric care is what breaks that cycle.

        • Kay

          Yes it is.

    • Robert Hammond

Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam is very different from the other Islam sects. It was “invented” in the U.S. around the 40’s and they believe the “white man” was created in a test tube by the evil scientist Yakub. They believe that pork was invented by combining a rat, cat, and a dog. I’m not kidding. They are almost as crazy as Scientology in their beliefs.

      See: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam

      • Kay

I did read the autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley, although that was some time ago. I do remember from that, however, that the Nation of Islam thinks the white man is the devil. Malcolm X was killed for changing his views on white people, believing that Islam should include all races. So, if that is still true, why is Louis Farrakhan hooking his group up with a mostly white group? (scratching my head)

        • Robert Hammond

All about the money. Farrakhan gets a cut of the profit for selling his mind slaves Dianetis programming, like an Amway franchise.

          • Sherbet

            That simple, huh?

          • EmmaDaoust

Is it possible that Farrakhan thinks he can take over Scientology?

            • Kestrel

I doubt it, but I think he believes he can find himself with a big enough piece of it.

            • Robert Hammond

I don’t believe so. That would never happen. He just wants another product to sell to his own contingency. He wants to rule black people, using the “white man’s” magic and keep making that green money.

            • ze moo

Farrakhan gets well programed slaves out of Dianetics. The clampire actually split or returned all NOI payments to $cienoland. That is Farrakhans payoff.

            • Kay

Farrakhan is one scary dude….if I were DM I would be nervous.

            • Robert Hammond

I wouldn’t mind seeing that Celebrity Death Match.

            • Kay

              LOL !!!!

        • ze moo

Malcolm X was murdered because he took many NOI away from Wallace Muhammad and brought them to mainstream Islam. Wallace Muhammad was portrayed well in that movie that Denzil Washington did on Malcolm X.

          • Kay

That’s kind of what I was saying….he gave speeches to people after he went to Mecca, and said they were wrong in their racist views. And you are right, many of them switched to tradition Islam. Malcolm X knew that when he put that POV out, he was a goner.

        • Robert Hammond

Yes. I read it as well – and saw the movie by Spike Lee. I’ve known a few NOI members in my day and they hold some very different views than other Islamic sects. Not even close to the “mainstream” Muslim theology if there is such a thing. It’s more about black nationalism and hating jews and white people than anything about Allah or Mohammad or the Koran.

          • Kay

I know that they were an outgrowth of the Black Panthers, so that’s not a surprising evolution I guess. As I said in another post: I don’t get why they are hooking up with a caucasian group since they don’t like white people. I’m so puzzled.

            • ze moo

The NOI were on the scene long before the Black Panthers showed up. Look up Wallace Muhammad and the history of the NOI.

            • Robert Hammond

              Good link, thanks

            • Kay

              I will research that

            • Robert Hammond

I don’t think they were directly related to the Black Panthers. They came around in the 1930s and the Panthers started in the 60’s. See: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam

            • Kay

I seem to remember that Malcolm X was a black panther, but then again as I said it’s been a long time since I read his autobiography. (which by the way is a really good book)

            • Robert Hammond

The Panthers were out of Oakland in the 60s. Malcolm X was a criminal who found “allah” and the Nation of Islam in prison back in the 40’s.

            • Kay

I’ll have to read his autobiography again, which I had been planning on doing anyway. I read it the first time about 30 years ago, hence my spotty memory regarding some of the details.

            • Kay

Got the link from your prior post, thanks. (I thanked you on your other post as well) I like doing research…on pretty much everything under the sun. (Inquiring minds and all of that)

            • Kay

P.S. I stand corrected on the chronology of the Black Panthers and Malcolm X and the NOI.

      • Sherbet

        Yikes.

      • Snake Plissken

Louie Farrakhan is a special kind of stupid, he’s right up there with Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, who believe 9/11 was a result of gay people having sex and women wanting equal rights.

        • Kay

Well he must have a lot of people who don’t like him because every time he speaks he has huge panels of bulletproof glass around him and the “Fruit of Islam” bodyguards everywhere. I guess we will know how much of an influence he has on apple box boy if suddenly he too starts putting up bullet proof glass next time he dedicates an Ideal Org.

          • Snake Plissken

He’s just fucking crazy, he’s like an Islamic version Hubbard that’s not all fucked up on drugs.

            • Robert Hammond

They were both into paranoid conspiracy theories, space aliens, and mad scientists. Like Hitler, they needed common enemies to unite people in hatred to outside groups like the Jews or Psychiatrists.

Brian Sheen may have a real claim in Florida courts. I was only aware of New Jersey making it a civil offense to order something like ‘disconnection’. Florida law may support Sheen, at least I hope it does.

TonyO, grab a cold one and watch the Mets play the Diamond Backs tonight. I am sure that can wait until the Sheen story is done. You got to talk to the daughter? Outstanding……oh and have some chicken wings too…..

  • I can’t even think of a shoop joke to make out of that NOI pic. That is just terrifying — I try to imagine what I would do or say to those people if I was in that room. My heart would be quaking at the thought of dealing with so much quackery and delusion.

QUESTION: What are the buckets for ?

    • Trash cans.

      • anoni81b4u

Well, those ladies in the center are hogging all the trash cans !

        • Sometimes people cry during auditing. I guess they put most trash cans they had in the middle to dispose of kleenex’.

          • Jimmy3

I’ve never cried during auditing and I’m damn proud of it.

            • I did.

            • Jimmy3

Well, you’ve actually been audited. So I don’t blame you.

            • Basic aiditing is basically talking about your past upsets. People do it all the time without scientology. Auditing supposed to give the whole gig legitimacy, so more money can be made from crazy stuff, like OT levels.

I have two questions about the NOI photo. First are those Case Supervisors standing about and second, how long would Capt. Miscavige last if he punched one of those Pre-Clears. Sometimes, mob justice works well.

O/T: RIP Omar Sharif. He was such a handsome man and great actor.
    Doctor Zhivago was the best!

Good one to watch tonight if you need a laugh. Total spy spoof.

    • Sherbet

I’ll agree on the handsome man part, but I rewatched Doctor Zhivago last year and was surprised at how wooden his performance was. In fact, the whole movie was clunky and bombastic. Still, a great cast, and a good love story, and Sharif didn’t need to act much, just let the camera zoom in on his huge liquid eyes, and every adolescent girl was in love.

      • Allie

Interesting, Sherb. I haven’t seen it in mega years so I’d probably feel the same way.

  • Robert Hammond

For anyone curious, The Nation of Islam, run by Louis Farrakhan, is very different from other Islamic sects from the Middle East. Like Scientology, it’s a made up religion, invented in America last century.

In the 1930s a then-unknown preacher founded the Nation of Islam. Wallace D. Fard, a.k.a. Wallace Fard Muhammad (also believed to be American-born Wallace Dodd) spent three years in Detroit where he opened the first NOI mosque. Three years after he began teaching, he disappeared, passing along the leadership of the NOI to Elijah Mohammad, who then proceeded to deify the Master Fard Muhammad, claiming he was God’s physical return to the earth from Mecca.

The NOI believe that the Sun and the Moon were once one source of light, and that the Earth itself is over 70 trillion years old. They also believe in UFOs, and claim that Ezekiel is describing a UFO in 1:15-18. Japan is the original source of the Evil Scientists and the UFOs.

Under Elijah Mohammad, the Nation of Islam became primarily a socio-political black activist and separatist group, guided and informed by the new religion. Elijah Mohammad taught that blacks were the first people, and were the original Muslims. He taught that the Blackman was not only tricked out of his place of power, but that a mad scientist, Mr. Yakub, separated the “brown gene” from the “black gene” and “grafted” it into a white – after 600 years of this, the White man was made.[7] The White man would reign over the Blackman for 6000 years.[4] Official Nation of Islam doctrine is that the most effective way for the black man to regain power is to build their own nation on separate land in the United States.

Since 2010, Louis Farrakhan has been encouraging members of the Nation of Islam to waste their time and money into joining yet another cult study dianetics. He claimed it would be used as a tool for white people “to become ‘civilized'”

    Source: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam

    • Sherbet

      Thanks for this post, Robert.

    • Ivan Mapother

More importantly, Louis Farrakhan won on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour.

      • Sherbet

        Didn’t know that, Ivan.

    • Sounds legit.

    • Snake Plissken

If Farrakhan was born a caucasian, he would be covered in neo-nazi white supremacist tattoos

    • Juicer77

      (f5)

    • anoni81b4u

I have a question. If Louis Farrakhan thinks Dianetics is a good tool to civilize white people, why is he making all those black people do it? (maybe for the 10% kickback he gets from church of scio INC ? )

    • Mockingbird

Very important info !!! I have both Muslims and NOI in my area and they are SO not the same !!!

Some NOI go on endlessly about white devils and they are just as bad as the KKK regarding Jews . Truly disgusting ,

    • Techie

I think the NOI interest in Dianetics stems from the claim that it is “non-religious”, just a way of dealing with past trauma. I can’t find it now, but some months ago Tony published a photo of an NOI member with a New Era Dianetics auditor certificate. To become a New Era Dianetics auditor you first have to complete Scientology auditor courses, and learn to use an e-meter. So there is more to it than a lot of people trying out so-called “Book One Auditing” straight out of the 1950 original book. The real story must be more complex and probably more horrifying knowing how Scientology tends to go. The other odd NOI information is that they took over the Applied Scholastics campus in Spanish Lake, Missouri (not far from St Louis). Originally a religious retreat, this large complex of buildings with beautiful grounds has served as a marriage retreat for NOI members, apparently.

    • thetastic

Thank you for this. I knew they were different, but didn’t know how.

  • MissCandle

I read today’s report very early this morning and, like every other Bunkerite, the information affected me greatly. I have a niece and nephew that were both sexually abused as young children 30 years ago and it still is a problem for them to deal with after all these years. Still, they were both able to get help and they both know that they were victims and were not to blame for the abuse. All day I felt bad for the child victims because they had been been double victims — first of the abuser himself, and then of the “Clut of Sci-Lying-Tology’s” active burial of the crime. More sadness followed when I realized that the family will have tremendous internal pressure to stay in the clut to keep the crime hidden, the children silent, and the crime-hiders safe from justice (also keeping the perpetrator from treatment). Tonight, I felt additional fear for the children in that they most likely have been indoctrinated into thinking that any problems they have because of the abuse are their fault because they must have pulled it in. If this is indeed the case, then I don’t even know a level of sadness that deep.

    • Juicer77

Children are already so inclined to believe that they are the cause and reason for everything (it’s normal self-centered behavior). The additional pressure and guilt put on these “big thetans in little bodies” by the Co$ teachings must be soul-crushing.

    • Jehova’s Witnesses, NOI and Scientologists: How do we protect our children from Scientists?

      • $cnMonkeyNut$

Children don’t need protecting from scientists, as all you get from them is evidence based, peer-reviewed, reasoning established on observations of reality and not some superstitious nonsense based on rubbish. (and as computer programmers are fond of saying: “Shit in, shit out!”)

        (edited)

        • flyonthewall

what about the mad scientists like Frankenstein or Edwin Hubble?

          • MostEthicalPimp

I know you’re joking. But I think we need to understand that Science is about find hard facts. Those facts aren’t the same as love, compassion and empathy. Which we all need and should work to practice. And could some explain using only Science why it’s not okay to say experiment on orphans? It’s not okay because we put a value on human life beyond that of it being the sum of it parts but that isn’t Science. Use Science but keep love in your heart!

          • $cnMonkeyNut$

🙂 Frankenstein was fictitious, and as long as you kept Hubble on astronomy he was fairly accurate. Also, scientists don’t (or at least they shouldn’t) dogmatically cling to theories that are proven to be inaccurate.

            • flyonthewall

Some people said Dr. Emmet Brown was crazy but I think he was just misunderstood

Doc Brown was a genius 🙂

        • kemist

          But that’s the point.

Things like evidence destroy belief in fragile made up worlds like scientology, or fundamentalist christianity.

That’s why they hate scientists and education in general. There are very few who remain religious zealots after having been exposed to it. It’s so much more interesting, complex and powerful than faith. It actually works.

Ok, At one point, I was going to make a Scientology humor series called “No Case Gain, Mrs. Pattycake.” It would be in a series of letters written by a lady of a certain age who is just so dumb,

      • Kay

You know, that is really true. I have a close friend who is Jewish who says a lot of really funny Jewish humor things. My favorite was: “They tried to kill us, they didn’t, let’s eat !!” Plus, her endless stories about having a Jewish mother, then turning into one used to leave me in stitches. I think a sign of maturity about your culture, religious or otherwise, is being able to poke fun at it occasionally.

            • Kay

Speaking of sutures, I do have a funny story for you. I was working in the ER one night, and two patients were brought in by ambulance. One was a Dad with a broken leg, the other was his son with a laceration on his forehead. The boy was about 3 years old and had been riding on the back of the motorcycle with his Dad, who had wrecked it at low speed in the driveway. While the Dad was in X-ray, I was injecting lidocaine into the kid’s rather large cut and was trying to distract him by talking to him. Sooo….I ask him “What do you want to be when you grow up?” He furrowed his little brow then said emphatically “A better motorcycle driver than my DAD!!”

      • Kay

OMgosh that is funny….the voice sounds JUST like those “sleep hypnosis” tapes, as does the music. Hysterical.

      • beauty for ashes

I saw that on FB too and almost posted it here too! great minds think alike!

        • SP Wogsy

I saw it on FB too, and almost invited the Bunker to a F*ck that meditation last night. I was dying from laughter when I first heard it. I got it from Elizabeth Gilbert.

          • beauty for ashes

I’m experiencing too long on FB memory loss so I don’t remember.

            • SP Wogsy

              It is Hilarious.

      • daisy

I can use this tape to go to sleep, now I will not have to drink myself into a stupor.

      Look down…I have tried…but I have had funnier days…………..;-)

      • Kay

I will go down thread now….I’m sure it is funny !

      • Kay

        How funny !!

        • outraged

I have so many more. lol. do you like cat videos?

          • outraged
            • Kay

That made me laugh…I have a cat who will not drink out of her water dish, period. She gets water from the kitchen sink, or bathroom sinks or the garden hose. I have even tried different dishes, i.e. metal, porcelain, thinking it was the taste, but nooooo she wants to drink it from anywhere else. 🙂

            • outraged

My kitty is the same!!! I started giving her water in a martini glass. Then we got Mr. Kitty and he knocked everything over. I now have 4 different kinds of bowls in many different places. lol

Always wanted to try one of those water thingies that keep the water moving all the time.

            • Kay

Cats are so quirky. I have a cat and a dog, and the cat is still a mystery to me. The dog…well it’s all “Give me treats, give me cuddles, let me sleep under your covers and give me 25 minutes in minus 2 degree weather to decide where I’m going to pee while you shiver to death.” Dogs are wonderful, but easier to figure out. Cats are….mysterious

          • Kay

Yes I love cat videos. I saw a really funny one online the other day where owners posted signs around their cat’s neck stating what they had done wrong. For instance, one cat’s sign said “I peed on the Gerbil”

            • aquaclara

I love the dog shaming pics. I could have entered a few when Woofy Clara was a puppy. He ate the straps on shoes. Tore up a box of tissues for fun. Took a bite out of a brand new sofa. He is all grown up now, and a very good boy, but his bestest buddy ate a couple of hardcover books today.

Now I’ll have to go check out the cat shaming ones. When I had cats, they were so funny. Happy=purring and on your lap or pillow. Pissed=aloof and hard of hearing. No middle. The humm of an electric can opener (even though they only knew dry food) or a shake of the pounce treats, and all was well once again. They were wonderful. Lived a very long time.

Leader of the Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan was a Calypso singer before he realized he could make more money in religion Check out The Charmer: (refresh) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo2eeVVQz8I

    • Kay

Who knew?? How funny! Reminds me in a weird way about the odd fact that Charles Manson was musically involved with the Beach Boys at one time.

      • burythenuts

        And Scientology…………..who knew!!!

        • Kay

Oh geez…I forgot about that ! That’s right, Manson was into Scientology. I think if memory serves me correctly that he and his minions actually moved into Brian Wilson’s house and wouldn’t leave, so Wilson had to. (he was afraid of them) They eventually left when they ran out of food and the power was cut off.

      • Robert Hammond

Manson, Farrakhan, and Hubbard – all have much in common.

        • Kay

          That’s a very interesting thought !

        • Allie

          Scary, isn’t it?

  • Narapoid

What can be done for a 60 something, top-of-the-bridge believer who has lost some children, but not all, and the more they are pushed, the tighter they cling? But the lies are wearing…

How can we save a pilgrim like that? No, really, how? Don’t say “bring it to a head right now”, because you better have something better than “My bad” when it doesn’t help.

    • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Are they public or Sea Org? If Sea Org, try to get them away and just show good family time. As Chuck Beatty says, Sea Org know how bad it is – you don’t need to tell them. Get them away and let them rest, eat good food, be there, build trust with family/friends, nonjudgmental about their “beliefs” and “religion” so they ahem a safe place when they are ready. Look at Steve Hassan’s Freedom of Mind approach if you have not yet done so.

      • thetastic

This is good advice. I second this.

  • Robert Hammond

For anyone who has ever been abused as a child, please know that it’s not your fault. Be willing to talk to someone who can listen with unconditional positive regard and not judge you or blame you or tell you that “you pulled it in”

Missed yah, glad to hear you’ve just been doing a great deal of sky diving. I agree there isn’t anything funner!

  • May_West

A child I know who was brought up by a scilon parent – but managed to not become a scilon – told me that every time they got so much as a sniffle or a bruise, their parent was after them questioning: “What did you do! What did you do!” Little kids accused of pulling it in. I consider this to be child abuse, too. Everything about child care in scientology is abuse.

    • burythenuts

May…you and I sound like we have something in common.
      😉
I also, was never a Scilon myself…just had it thrust on me.

    • Baby

      Absolutely Sickens me May..

    • flyonthewall

then the child ends up hiding the sickness and pain from you so you don’t know when they need help. Not that it would matter with Sci parents anyway I guess. What would they get, an adjustment, touch assist and vitamins?

      • Free Minds, Free Hearts

Yes. I think hat is pretty much what Jenna Miscavige did when she was the medical officer at age 8 or so.

I was so pissed at today’s post I targeted Ellis..

( I still scream Fuck You to him though) baby

        • May_West

If previous photos are accurate, Ellis’ weight does seem to be heading in that direction. I doubt very much if scientology would drop the bucks needed to supply him an electric scooter like that, even after all his hard working years. But you, kind Baby, you envision him with a scooter even thought you despise the guy.

          • Baby

I am Kind May.. OMG I googled Mike Ellis and this came up from OT8888 I didn’t know it was a spoof.. ooooooops

      • Robert Hammond

You’re welcome, Baby. Figured it was a nice song to reflect the moment. It’s good to have friends. Hope some of the “still in” members know that they will have plenty of friends and support when they decide to get free.

        • Baby

I cherish my friends.. absolutely cherish them. I seriously would bury a body for any of them and NOT ask questions.

Unless you really miss Nat King Cole. ( then I apologize)

      • Robert Hammond

        Very nice Beauty. Love it.

  • Mark

Sorry for not looking at the date in the Waldrip link below. Maybe this’ll cheer people up a bit instead: an actual question Jeff Augustine asked Mat Pesch in a ‘Surviving Scientology’ podcast. Not seen here before, thanks to a very busy news day at the Bunker. (Refresh):

    • Robert Hammond

Good one, Mark. I saw that article earlier today on twitter and got excited for a moment too. Very confusing the way it came out today, but was really from 2014. Maybe it’s a shadow of things to come.

      • Mark

        Fingers, eyes, and legs crossed!

I do not want to lose you hard work.

      • beauty for ashes

        Obs too?

        • Mark

Obs’s original Flickr of Ron Series shoops got taken down—only to promptly reappear in several other places 😉

          • beauty for ashes

            Uh oh, its multiplying!

      • Mark

I’ve been thinking the same thing. Super-secret plans are in train to back the Flickr up! (Oh damn, just gave the game away…)

    • Sebastian L. Jackson

Psychopaths and sociopaths are the same thing.

      • Mark

True: mostly a matter of degree. But then psychiatry was mostly a rather haphazard matter of sticking labels on things until fairly recently—just look at those old DSMs 😉

  • Kay

Well the IRS is finally answering….after I held for THREE HOURS. Thank y’all so much for the funnies…I really needed that. I love the Bunker. Smooch smooch. K.

” First they came for the psychiatrist, and I did not speak out because I was against psychiatry.
Then they came for the journalist, and I did not speak out because I was against entheta.
Then they came for the critics, and I did not speak out because I was against free thinking.
Then they came for the ExMembers, and I did not speak out because I was against Humans.
Then they came for the money, and I did not speak out because I was against eternal death.
Then they came for the Auditors, and I did not speak out because I was against Everything.
And when the came for me, my enemies spoke up for me because they were for Humanity.”

        • Mockingbird

I am grateful every day that less than one percent of people become Scientologists and probably 95-99% of people are not sociopaths . We study evil but it is the exception not the rule . There is hope for humanity yet .

Thank you , I advise all Scientology watchers to look at sociopaths and the abundance of theories and hypotheses that consistently consider 1-6 % of the population to be among them . And the vast differences between them and normal or non personality disordered individuals aka Npid. We need to keep perspective especially when looking into the abyss of Scientology.

Not to steal your thunder, but a cant an a Pedatic ass

It is a reworking of the poem by Martin Neimoller
I can’t do the umlat over the O.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

(I do this because I think of scientology as fascism)

He may not have been innocent, but he appeared to repent his earlier follies

    • Eclipse-girl

      I loathe Uber amd Lyft.
I live in a smallish urban area and these companies do NOT want to abide by what once where local regulations about taxi companies.

I do not live in a major urban area where perhaps this business model can compete.

A few weeks ago we were in Portland Oregon and found ourselves in front of the Portland Org. I took pictures until they came out and accosted us–I just told them I wasn’t interested and that after “Going Clear” I couldn’t imagine anyone WOULD be interested. After we walked away I thought of all the clever things I should have said…namely (to the young kid who came rushing out when he saw me taking pictures), “Call your mother!” Anyway, since I don’t know where to post the pictures, and even though they have nothing to do with this story, I’m posting them here. As a side note, the building’s interior is beautiful!

    • Lotsa Ideal Emptiness.

      • nommables

True! While beautiful inside, it was also quite, quite empty!

        • Thank you for the photo report.

Thank God for that…or Hip, Hip, Hurray.

        • Robert Eckert

Yeah, I was there a few weeks also (stupidly without a camera; I didn’t bring one when I went to see Tony in Chicago either), and was struck by how plush it was, especially for the place it’s in (where the neighborhood is starting to slide into “sketchy”), and how lonely it looked with one receptionist, and only one guy going in during the fairly long while I watched.

      • Snake Plissken

Lotsa Ideal Tax Free Real Estate Scam, it’s so easy even David Miscavige can make millions off of it. Someone armed with a high school education could makes billions off of it, without even trying.

        • Robert Eckert

No no, you don’t want to see those so-called memes. Ryan is a Scilon who was trying to do memes, but was horribly unclear on the concept.

        • ReallyMGM

No, they were horrible in the “lame” sense. He was just a 18 yo, born-in, doing the social medial stuff. Very indoctrinated.

      • ReallyMGM

The kitty pics have been nice.
This one was the day we got her, one year ago this week.

        • Eclipse-girl

          i see her there.
          she like to read. 😉

          • PerpetualOutflow

I remember when my first kitteh hid in my bookshelves–really miss him!

            • Eclipse-girl

Mr E and I have had a number of kitties.

I could name them all for you, but there is one who can never be replaced.

            • ReallyMGM

I need a kitty support group. My last kitty passed away 20 years ago. We waited this long to get another. (To be fair we had a houseful of dogs)

            • Eclipse-girl

Mr E and entering a different stage of life and are traveling more.
I have told him we can not have a pet because of that.
It feels like a punishment to me (us)
I want to be kind to any animal we we adopt.

            • ReallyMGM

My dogs have all been show dogs and world travelers. They started young in their kennels for car or air, and loved it. There are lots of resources for traveling with pets now. My parents traveled all over the US in an Rv with their dog and thought they would be unique. Not so, they saw people rving with everything from Macaws to reptiles to dogs and cats.

            • Eclipse-girl

Mr E and I travel to dive.
Most of the places we travel would not accept pets and the cats I am familiar with do not like to travel.

I am hoping that as our travel schedule gets settled we can find the room for two kittens /cats

            • ReallyMGM

When you make the plunge let me know. I have lots of tips for traveling with a pet, even in hot weather. (Never leave animal closed up in car in sun!) Enjoy diving! That sounds like so much fun!

          • ReallyMGM

She was very agile to get there. She had to run and vault into the short shelf area. As new cat owners, we stood with our jaws on the floor when she did it. The poodles gave us the stink eye as if to say, “you’d kill us if we did that!”

          • ReallyMGM

Hubby said she is smart because she is reading about Lotus, Jags, Aston Martins, Morgans, and Porsches.

            • Supper Powers

Well she has fine taste anyway.

      • EmmaDaoust

We got LOVE on our side. Warm caring human LOVE.

      • tracsar

Thanks E-girl. I have been. Thing is some of these have been triggering for me. I had to recently report my former best friend (emphasis on former) for suspected child abuse when stories he was telling me no longer added up. Add to that the picture someone posted of their sleeping bird reminds me of my little budgie who died in my hands last year after 10 years.. so for me it’s a bit more personal than it should be.. The only thing that comes to mind after a story like this is Tim Minchin’s Pope Song. I highly recommend it. Nothing helps a mood quite like a song whose first two verses are simply “Fuck the Mother Fucker”.

          • tracsar

Thanks. I just wish there was something we could do

            • Eclipse-girl

              as do I.
I think the best we can do is make sure our elected representatives are aware, keep writing the IRS, and get our friends and family to understand our obsession
